I am going to take 2-3 months off from the game (let my subscription expire).

I have read that my character is guaranteed for three months.

I assume my house, and vendors will be gone when I return, however.....

What happens to my credits in the bank? What about the credits I carry on me?

What happens to the stuff in my inventory? What about stuff in the saftey deposit?

Any help is appericated!

Providing your character doesn't get deleted (which it won't for 3 months) all your personal belongings and what's in your bank will be safe.

By personal belongings I mean the items you are carrying, not your house and so on, although you could pay them up for 3 months till you return.

I just went to check the post on the IN Live forums about this and it seems to have changed from 3 months to 6.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=in_live&message.id=20994

So if your account runs out at say the end of September you will have until the purge sometime mid March before everything goes poof

Your house will stay so long as you have payed enough rent and will still hang around for about a month until it decays to 0% then goes poof so no need to worry there just go pay 3+ months rent on it.

The Vendor however will be more tricky. At last patch your vendor will be flagged for deletion once it has been empty for 14 days. If it is still empty 14 days later you will be sent a mail saying it will be deleted. If it is still empty (and unused i.e. no new items placed) a further 14 days after this it will be deleted. Now if you are going away for 2 months and leave the vendor well stocked + fully payed up the chances are it will be still there when you get back, unless you sell out in the first week or something.

Unless you can get a trusted friend to log in and maintain your Vendor you can only really keep it live for the lifetime of the sales cycle before all items are placed back into the stockroom (30 days no?) +14 days + 14days + 14 days = 78 days.

For me it would boil down to whether it was really worth keeping the vendor up at all. If you expect to sell out in 30 days then put 30 days rent in and let it go poof at the end. If you dont expect to sell out empty the merchant, retrieve your rent and set it up again when you get back. Of course if you are someone who has dropped your merchant skills and are exploiting the fact that you retain your merchant you are gonna need someone to log in and maintain once a month

I'm not really a merchant so maybe others will want to correct bits of that as I have no idea what that little message (since revoked) saying merchant cycle has been changed from 14 days to 100 means... anyone?

well hope that helps...

I would just put enough maintenance in the house to last the time you are gone. That's if you have things worth saving in them. As far as the vendor goes, I would put a few things on them and give them a price so high noone would buy them. That way the vendor never goes empty.

Well I don't think they have the 6 month rule anymore. I just came back to SWG and I emailed the company to see if I would still have my account after taking about 1 year off. here is the email they sent me in reply.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Online Entertainment Customer Service
department.

There is currently no set time that Star Wars Galaxies is schedule to
delete characters on inactive accounts. We will try to preserve your
characters as long as possible, but can currently make no guarantees as
to how long we will hold on to your character information.

This is due to the fact that every character in SWG takes up an order
of
magnitude more database space than other MMOs. That is because we have
so many unique variables per character (IE. millions of character
customization possibilities, every player made object having several
unique attributes, large storage space in banks and houses)

---

In order to reactivate your Star Wars Galaxies account, first make sure
the Star Wars Galaxies software has been installed on your computer.
Then, double click on the Star Wars Galaxies icon on the desktop. When
you get to the sign-in screen, type in the Station Name and Password
