I'm wanting to try another charactger on a different galaxy. I'll probably bea combat character, maybe a smuggler. Not sure if I would go Imperial/Rebel or just be sort of a neutral Hutt employee. My time is not too big of a factor. I'd like a server with a good many people that like torpand has static cities that are not completely dead if that even exists anymore. Which should I look into to? Thanks.

I have chars on a few servers, but the best I know, so far (even tho I don't know all of em) talking variety of players and quality of crafters would be eclipse.
the worst one I know is infinity, bad crafters, specially WSs, weird economy, loads of stupid noobs hanging out here and there, not much helpers etc...
eclipse's community is very strong, but I'd say the only bad thing is that it can be hard to get in that old community, but there are some places you can hang out and make helpfull friends.
I really like eclipse, and wouldn't change server if I ever could transfer my toons.

Hmmm...best server...
Well I love the server my main is on (Starsider) but I also love my secondaries ( Eclipse and Shadowfire). Course it could be with the secondaries that I just like the professions that I'm doing but I truly enjoy playing on all three char's.
Good Luck.

I kinda like Wanderhome, but if you are wanting to rp, i'd suggest eclipse or intrepid, most of the peeps on Wanderhome just like to flame each other, no real rping going on, but we have a pretty good economy, decent crafters and the like, and we had good GCW, but several guilds just feel apart, so we're not sure where exactly that is going...anyhow...yeah, its ur choice in the end

Bloodfin is my "main" server. It's pretty full, good mix of old and new players. Armor and weapons are top-notch. Economy is borked, but not as bad as some other servers. A large chunk of the player base are pretty hardcore PvP brats. Lots of trash talking and leet names like IpwnU, temploiting, and griefing. If you're a hardcore PvP guy, Bloodfin is probably where you want to be. There are a lot of large, old guilds on both sides, and a fair share of transient guilds and cities that have kind of lingered on the fringe. Few totally dead cities.
Bria is my second server. I'm pretty sure it's the most populated. Weapons and armor can be found in the same quality as Bloodfin and for a little less money, but you really have to know what you're after and look hard for it. The average equipment available on Bria is below what's standard on Bloodfin. But then again, if the other guy's stuff is hardly better than yours, it's all relative anyway. PvP is slower there than Bloodfin, and the PvPers themselves for the most part aren't particularly outstanding at it. Seems to me like the people are generally more friendly on Bria and there are quitea few big guilds. The economy on Bria is overall better than Bloodfin, but doctor buffs are noticably more expensive. You can snag buffs all day on Bloodfin for 9-10k, on Bria be prepared to shell out 12-15k and sometimes more.
I've played on a few other servers as well, but never more than just dabbling with a new template before making a switch on my live server. Definitely don't start playing full time on Test Center unless you enjoy headaches. Not that it's a bad place, but a lot of stuff doesn't work, equipment can be hard to come by, and the population is spotty. There aren't a whole lot of full-time testers. It can be fun to try out the new stuff, and prices on stuff you can find are usually pretty cheap, but levelling is a **edit** if you're a solo player. Only one really big guild there that I know of, just north of Theed on Naboo. That's pretty much the only place you'll find anything. In front of the Coronet starport, you'll feel like Charleton Heston in The Omega Man. Scary how quiet it is.
Hope that helps.

yeap just an addition
in general I'd say go for the most populated/old servers, Bria, Bloodfin, Eclipse
just a precision on eclipse, it seems the PvP here is not very good, it usually sums up in jedi/non jedi fights or "friendly" duels, no big raids here, or only a few ones, there are a few PvPers everytime the same dudes.
for the RP I think it's very good yeap, and really, the community is large and has different faces, alot of active guilds here too the planets are well defined
dantooine - Grind/Players city
Dath - grind/loot hunts (like other servers)
Corellia - business
Naboo - business/RP guilds
Lok - RP guilds/PvP guilds
Tatooine - group stuff/business
Rori - RP guilds
Endor/Yavin - quiet places
All professions are well represented (crafting or combat) u can find a place for every type of player, even SLs, Rangers or other carbineers, RP entertainers, RP IDs, u can find everything easily.
economy is kinda screwed on high end items, and it's ok on regular items/services (top 2.6k buffs for 10k) and it's always possible to find a helper somewhere.
try eclipse boards and see how it goes.

I like Gorath because of all the Germans... I don't know.. it feels more like Star Wars with the germans there.
Picture walking into a crowded cantina and having a seat. Then people nearby start speaking some german alien language where you understand every 10th word. I think it helps the atmosphere. If only we could get some people speaking spanish and japanese, then it'd really be alien...
Non deska Solo?
Greedo, tell Jabba I have the money...
Hehe, Bloodfin used to be like that with Italians. Not sure if it still is, since it seemed they were all on primarily in the morning hours EST and I haven't been on in the mornings for a while. But the Dantooine Mining Op and even Dearic on Talus used to be nonstop Italian in spatial for a good chunk of the day. And since I speak a little Spanish, and Italian is so similar, it's exactly like I could understand every tenth word or so, kinda like when you read Zabrak in spatial chat when you don't know the language ![]()
