If I put enough credits into my buildings, say a years worth, can I go unregistered and expect to find them still there several months later (as long as their credits in the maintenance?

Yes... assuming they don't purge inactive accounts.
The cancellation screen guarantees 3 months. Anything beyond that is a risk.
At one point they had said they would be purging accounts that had been inactive for 6 months but apparently decided not to do it.
However, that's not to say that they won't do it in the future.

I believe they said they would make an announcement of some kind before they did it but it still comes down to taking chances with anything longer than 3 months.

I dropped my subscription Jan '04 but restarted it two weeks ago to see how things have progressed. Fortunately everything was still here in my pack and in my bank. But I'm sure they'll delete inactives at some point.

I would also receommend putting anything you truly value in your bank or direct inventory. There have ben bugs in the past with packs and structures and the items in them. You dont want to be getting canned responses from CSRs who cant help you replace items that may have poofed months ago.

They said that they would start deleted characters who have been cancelled for more than 6 months. They have not started that yet as far as I know.
