Thread: All ubber crafted items and loot are now pointless

For the few who dont understand why please let me explain. The few who've I run into that actually like the CU arent getting why its a bad thing. Here's why...


DAMAGE MULTIPLIER - Put in the game because it was much easier to place this than trying to redo every single mob in the game. What it does however is make most outcomes predetermined. You will win 99% of the time to inferior mobs and lose 99% of the time to superior mobs.


For example....you attack a lvl 55 piket as a lvl 50 combat type. You lose. You in the old system would look for better items to turn the tables. You might seek out a weaponsmith and have him craft you a better powerhammer made with akley bones you looted the other night. Then you seek out an armorsmith and give him some yellow geo cubes, NS shards, and NS layors for ubber armor. You spend many a night hunting for skill tapes, buying and selling in that attempt to cap melee defense or speed, etc. Finally, you seek out orher little advantages like better food, better slices on items, etc. All this effort over a long period of time will do 2 things for you...1. it makes you a bit better than a newer player that just enters the game and therefore an edge in pvp and 2. it gives you a decent chance to overcome that lvl 55 piket.


However in a damage multiplier system, all those efforts are in vain. You will never overcome that piket. In essence, it makes everyone equal. 12 point smiths dont matter, akley PH dont matter, etc. In games like this and WoW players burn through the content and find themselves with nothing to do. There's really no point in striving for better items. If you're higher lvl you win, lower lvl you lose.


So ultimately why would anyone bother spending credits on a +10 speed tape ? Heck, it might as well be a +100 tape and a legendary weapon added to it cause it wont matter. So please continue to ask SOE to get rid of the damage multplier. I have no issues with the rest of the CU. I have no issues grouping. I can live with the bugs and lack of xp for my paddy. However the damage multiplier system is too much of a change. If I want to play WoW, i would.


To summarize, the game is now POINTLESS.

I concur. I see no reason to get anything better than a well crafted normal weapon and armor. While it was difficult to quantify bonuses to Accuracy and Defensive Mods, it is even harder now. It is pointless to get speed tapes because you will always be stuck with cooldown timers.

take a look at the trade forums, completely dead. Previously a post would get buried in 2 min. Now they sit all day up top cause most of loot hunters like me either cant hunt (my paddy stinks now) or see no point in it.


Im actually destroying my stashes of NS shards, yellow cubes, gorax bones, etc cause they're pointless. Thanks SOE for making 2 yrs worth of work go down the drain.


But like Tiggs told me at Celebration 3, they want the game to have "more broad appeal" meaning we want new players and if we lose a few thousand vets so be it.

So sad that the vet player has outgrown their worth and are being pushed aside by SOE mearly in the hope that they will be able to ride the train of Episode 3 and gain new players.
