Its not done on a holo basis its done on remaining unlocking profession bass, at the end of the system according to TH's post there were 8 unlocking professions needed, 4 of these were holos the others were silent so

If I read the chart right:
8 Profs for jedi (old system)
1 profession remaining: 5 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
2 professions remaining: 4 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
3 professions remaining: 3 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
4 professions remaining: 2 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
5 professions remaining: 1 Force Sensitive branch will be granted
2 professions remaining: 4 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
3 professions remaining: 3 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
4 professions remaining: 2 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
5 professions remaining: 1 Force Sensitive branch will be granted
So to get 1 force sensitive branch you have to have 5 profs remaining which means you have to have done 3, so just doing 1 holo prof will not get you a branch, you need to hace done 2 more.

In other words, you would need to have completed at least 3 holocrons to receive 1 tree of credit.

This is correct and I got two unlocks. Yes, I unlocked and filled a tree that would have been done by the quest, but, I am NOT going to sacrifice fun gameplay to become a Jedi. I am very happy with the two trees I completely filled up. I will unlock two more in the next 3 phases, but until then... I will not grind out xp.
I am going to make some cash, continue to look for cool loots and uber weapons for PvP. I love playing against other players and intend to continue. The GCW is up to us to save, so let's get to it 
Good luck to all you questers and I hope you get what you want out of it. I have and I am very happy with PUB 10. This is a major step in swg and the dev's have really done a nice job. I do wish the quest NPC's were tougher, but hey... we can't have it all

Yup, I may seem to be in the minority at times (ok most of the time) but I'm really into, you know, playing the game. Doesn't mean I won't pass up a freebie tho, if it's available

HHMMM this confuses me..... I completed 3 holos and did not get a single free tree.... i am very angry, I managed to submit a Ticket and hope i get a positive response. On a side note my friend also completed 3 holos and he got 1 tree free.
Am i just being dumb or is there a reason why i am not eligable?

You only get credit for the number of Silent professions you hit from what I gather. I got a free branch even though I only mastered Five professions, likely it was the Ranger profession that was the one, since it seems to be a popular silent holo profession.

It seems that way, but I think you are actually in the vast majority. The people that are enjoying the game and content with the system are just playing away happily. Good luck with the quest

You are true my friend. I only visit the boards at work, because I am not playing
When I am playing the game, I don't even think about the topics or coming to reply.... Most of the Mr. Negatives are just unhappy in general... with life, games, family, gender, who knows. Just take what they say with a grain of salt, because there are tons of good people out here.
