This guide will explain how to get either the Imperial Banner, or the Ornate Rug.

*Disclaimer – Getting either one of these "rewards" is not guaranteed, even when following the steps outlined below.

"Political Intrigue in Bestine" – SWG Load Screen

Overview:

There are two candidates running for the office of Bestine. Each gives a different reward provided you voted for them, but may give out a lesser reward, or even no reward under certain circumstances.

The goal in voting for the candidates is to obtain their "reward" either the Imperial Banner, or the Ornate Rug.

This is accomplished through "bouncing" the winner back and forth between the two candidates.

Whoever is currently in office, you want to vote for the other candidate.

The Players:

Victor Visalis – An Imperial, who favors the occupation of Bestine with more Imperial troops.

Victor gives two rewards for having voted for him, 1) An Imperial Banner 2) A necklace

Sean Trenwell (-1200 -3583) – A local merchant who favors improved trade in the city of Bestine.

Sean gives two rewards for having voted for him, 1) An Ornate Rug 2) A Statue.

Finding out who is currently in office:

Speak to Both the candidates, one of them will have a conversation option of "How goes your work now that you are in office?".

Whoever *does not* have this conversation option is who you want to vote for.

What to do next:

If Victor is in office, go speak to Sean, and tell him you’d like to join his campaign.

Sean will tell you that you need to collect evidence to give to the governor.

Exit the capitol building, and enter the courtyard on your right, then through the far archway, and enter the next courtyard on your left.

Find Tirci (-1104 -3705) and speak to her, she will provide the evidence you need.

Once you have the Merchant Disk from Tirci in your inventory, go back to the capitol building and talk to Tour Aryon (governor) (-1136 -3562) telling her you have evidence for the election, and that you are ready to vote.

You will then have a "campaign disk" in your inventory which you can keep in the bank.

If Sean is currently in office, go speak to Victor and tell him you’d like to join his campaign.

Victor will tell you that you need to collect evidence to give to the governor.

Just before you exit Victor’s office, there is a data terminal on the left hand side of the office entry/exit.

Left click-hold on the data terminal, and choose "Download Evidence" from the radial menu option that appears.

Go talk to Tour Aryon (governor) (-1136 -3562) telling her you have evidence for the election, and that you are ready to vote.

You will then have a "campaign disk" in your inventory which you can keep in the bank.

What happens next:

You wait. Depending on how far through the cycle it is, this may be a week or more.

Once the election is over, return and speak with the candidate you voted for, and inquire about your prize.

If Sean wins:

You will get either an Ornate Rug, or a statue.

If Victor wins:

You will get either an Imperial Banner, or a necklace.

-"I don’t want the Imperial Banner/Ornate Rug, why should I vote for Sean/Victor?"

If you vote for the same candidate twice in a row, and they win the election, the second time around, you will get nothing. The candidate will tell you "You already got your prize".

-"So if I follow this guide it’s guaranteed I’ll get the Ornate Rug/Imperial Banner from Sean/Victor?"

No. There is a 50/50 chance that you will get either the ‘good’ (Ornate Rug/Imperial Banner) prize, or the ‘junky’ (statue/necklace) prize.

If you have more than one account, I highly recommend that you cast your vote for the candidate that is not currently in office on all your characters.

-"Okay, I followed the guide, and now I’ve got this Ornate Rug/Imperial Banner that I don’t really like/want."

Sell it. On my server the Ornate Rug can fetch around 1.5 million credits, and the Imperial Banner can fetch around 3 million. Prices of course will vary server to server based on supply/demand of these items. If you do not have a character with the ability to place a vendor, ask a friend who does to put the item up for sale for you, or use the galaxy trade forums to put it up for sale.

Note: If Sean wins the election, when you go back to speak to him, and get your prize there is also a side quest to get a painting. The painting is of a planet with a sun coming into view from space.

Guides for killing Krayt Dragons are pointless since they don't always drop Pearls, and/or Tissues?

If you read the guide, you'll understand why it's not guaranteed... there's a 50/50 chance you'll get the banner/rug, but you may also get the statue/necklace as well.

Great guide. But I think the percentages are off. It seems like the crappy "junky" rewards are given about 75% of the time and the "good" ones about 25%.

That's from my experiences anyway.

(BTW - whyis the Imperial Banner a "reward" for some obscure election anyway - shouldn't it be a Faction Perk?????)

i believe the full cycle is 2 months, 1 month of voting, 1 month in office

also, there is no way to tell when the election will be over unless you know when it started
