Last night my girlfriend and I decide that since we're maxed out, we'll go hunt some krayt dragons. An hour later we give up and decide to start the hero quests. A little over an hour of driving around in the desert and we've pretty much had it.
Anything to do out there that won't just make me feel like I've eaten several hours of my life away with no reward?

There is a list of 100 thing's to do in SWG around the boards, unfortuantely they will all leave you feeling like you lost several hours of your life for little reason.
You might try the WoW Beta Quest... very hard, very mysterius, butI hear it's very rewarding.

Yeah, those Hero quests are extremely boring.
Like the other guy said, try a bit of PVP, it can be fun....sometimes.

I agree... there are far too many "time sinks" in this game. BORING time sinks.
I'm sure that SWG actually means Sony's Waiting Game.... I'm sure of it.

Try the new FSCS content! At current FSXP conversion ratios, it should only take 10 hours of grind-crafting per day, 7 days a week, for a few months. (The hologrind is dead. Long live the FSXP grind!)
