The current character transfer rules seem too constrained. I canunderstand the arguments that allowing players to transfer all of their items, credits and etc. would be problematic but there are alternatives.
1) Place a cap on the amount of credits that can be transferred.
2) Allow players (perhaps based on the age of the account, or amount of time played) to transfer a limited amount of items, which the player can choose from.
3) Allow players to keep badges, faction points earned and etc.
I can't seeany reasons why this can't be offered.
If SOE is attempting to use this as a revenue generating adventure, a character transfer, which allows the above items mentioned, would likely generate a better response and thus more revenue. A potential side effect would be that someservers could beshut downif many players begin to migrate/concentrate to several servers. These de-populated/shut downservers would not have to be maintained, resultingin cost savings for SOE and hopefully that extra revenue can be used to add more fixes, enhancements and etc to SWG.
Anyone?
Kindly,

my only comment to this is just be glad that you can transfer your character....i don't see what the big deal is....make friends on your current server if everything is too much to transfer over

Yes this one is reasonable. Dunno about the other ones.
Although if I had a master crafter... then NOT have resources when I transfer...

I agree on the credit cap, and I also think we should keep our badges. I mean how hard can it be to transfer that information over? I don't think many people will do this until items can be transferable as well. I may as well just start a brand new char on another server with an apostrophe somewhere in my name to make it seem like the same char :/

Yes, it's a money making thing. EQ did it. EQ started out with a crappy transfer program like this and over time, they beefed it up to be what people REALLY wanted.
This is typical Sony strategy. Offer them the barebones, then upgrade it slowly, pointing out how much you listen to the community. In EQ, they could get away with the bare bones character xfer, but I don't think this will be as popular in SWG. The precedent has been set by EQ. Time to get with the times SWG guys.

it isthe same as the everquest transfer service with a few differences. They also have a transfer with everything option but they charge a lot for it. So we may get that eventually but remember we are 1 year old they are 5

i totaly agree with this, i was so happy to hear about this (hearing this only the other day) since me and my friends all play togeather and are all from the Uk, and get pings in the 150-190's on the server we are playin gon at the moment switching to a less laggy one seemed like a dream come true. i think they should let you keep your badges, give you money so you can buy basic weapons and armor and at least let you keep your name if no one on the oter server has it.
