I've been toying around trying to find out if the economy in SWG is in a healthy state or not, and I've come across a few interesting facts that can help you relate to how much the credit is really worth in both SWG and the SW movies. Please feel free to post your own little bits of info here, as long as they relate to the subject.
- Luke got 2,000 credits for selling his XP-34 landspeeder. When star wars came out in 1977, the value of $2,000 was about what $6,000 is worth today.
- Han Solo was to transport Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2 and C-3PO from Tatooine to Alderaan for the price of 17,000 credits. If converted to 1977 dollars and then compared to what that is worth today, Obi Won offered Han about $56,000 for a one-way trip to Alderran.
- Guri the HRD was sold to Prince Xizor of Black Sun for 9 million credits. The estimated cost of a YT-1300 in JTL is about 200,000 credits.

Cost of a small home = 10,000 credits
Cost of a vehicle = 20,000 credits
Cost of a case of (25) steaks = 175,000 credits
I guess the economy is pretty close to RL then.

Hehe, don't forget people complain if the cost of a small, indestructible house is much more than that.
