This is a newbie question, but what good are quest items? So far I got the engraved pens, and an old ticket, can anyone tell what they're good for?

some of that stuff can be sold to junk dealers for cash.
Some of it is stuff even junk dealers don't want.
You can put it on tables in houses etc as decoration, some people have figured it out, but I don't know how to do that myself.
Good loot, though? Once skill enhancers work like they're supposed to you can take them to an armorsmith to have them put in armor pieces for you or (in the case of clothing skill tapes) buy clothes with sockets and buff your skill mods.

I'm looking for a comprehensive list of items only available from doing in game quests (something the seperates quest items fromloot or event items)
is there such a thing?

There is a list on alakazam but it has all the items consolidated...which is a huge list..you have to look at each item to decern if its a quest item or loot or a gift.

I am sure there is I can't recomend one thats got it all have a look at the Community Sites on the SWG Home Page it's under the Communtity list. I am sure you'll find some info there.
