I was playing around with player names for my unlock character I got for completing the padawan trials. I came up with a really cool name that I love and I wouldent say it because other people could steal the idea. Anyway after knowing that the name was available, It made the character but I realized I wanted to make it a female character. So I deleted it and went to remake it but I couldent.

My question is, how long does it take for a name to be cleared from the dadabase so I can use it again?

I have heard various answers on this issue. People have been able to re-use the same name anywhere from 2 weeks, to a month, to not yet. Personally, I think that when a character is deleted that the name should also be immediately freed up for use by someone else. SWG is the only MMOG that I know of that has this policy. The good news is that once they start the purging of characters that belong to accounts that have been inactive for 6 months or more, all unused names should be freed upafter 6 months at the longest.

I just made it again and it let me, so I guess its about 6 hours or so assuming you had the name before

The Name never releases to my knowledge... i made a character on a server right when i started and still can't use that name

I sincerely hope it is not released before the game automatically clears away deleted characters from guilds and building admins.

I'd hate for someone to re-use my old name and immediatly have access to my house because my old character wasnt deleted from the admin panel in it
