Thread: MOD SWG( djk robes/light-blue lightsabers)
mk86 wrote:you're not permitted to mod any files in the swg folder...if you do, and they find out, you could be banned
you can "change" them without affect the files you just have to know how. Its the same concept as using your own music. It is not bannable and it is not against the eula.
Just as modifying files is not allowed.
This is to stop cheats, like making targets more obvious etc.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but using 3rd party programs to modify stuff about SWG is expressly banned by pretty much all MMORPGs (not just by SOE). Tiggs pointed this out recently.

Are you sure? I was under the impression that all it does is mod the image files. Thus making robes look better and whatnot. This is only a client side mod, in-game to everyone else its the same old boring crap.

This is still against the rules as just modding the image files client side can be used to cheat. You are not allowed to modify any of the files other than Options.cfg to allow dual logging. And just a warning, they can easily tell if you have modified them.
This is from the EULA that you agree to everytime you logon,
"You may not use any third party software to modify the Software or to change game play"
This is from Tiggs -09-01-05 10:55pm
"Changing anything with game play is considered against our EULA or TOS agreement including changing art, music ect."
Thats the official answer

You dont need any programs to mod images or art files.
All you need is some basic directions on how to make subfolders and what files to rename, etc.
Google is your friend, or try searching the jedi forums as there are a few threads with those specific mod descriptions around, just have to use the search function.

Using programs or not isnt the issue here, Tiggs has clearly stated that you are not allowed to change anything.
I believe that her statement means something that affects gameplay, modding music or art files doesnt affect anyones gameplay so its fine. There is a music modding thread on this board that shows evidence to back this up.

Oh well, I've done it before. I changed my powerhammer to a 2 handed lightsaber, If they ban me for that then SOE deserves to lose players.
