Thread: NPC Knockdown and Dizzy

Is this just a bug or is it supposed to work this way? I was out fighting a spawn of Tuskens today and this is the second time this has happened. I get dizzied and knocked down by them. Now for the next 1-2 minutes my guy just lays on his back while getting pummeled. Both times this has happened to me I just laid there until I died. To me this is just an asinine system. You can't heal, you can't feign, you can't do anything but lay there and wait for death. Now in reverse if I use a knockdown shot on an NPC they bounce off the ground so fast you barely noticed that they went down at all.


Now perhaps if I wanted to be LEET and go TKA there is a defense against this but as a Smuggler, Pistoleer there is nothing I can do but take the KD Dizzy, or go back to fighting gorgs.

The dizzy/KD is an often used tactic - I used to use it in PVE a lot when I was against an NPC who would otherwise beat me up..


As for a way to get around it:


i) There is a food that increases your resistance to KD (can't remember the name though - but sure someone else will post it )


ii) I've heard (though not tested myself) that if you make a macro like this:


/stand;

/healdamage self


and spam it then you can often heal yourself before falling backdown


iii) Don't just keep hitting "Stand" as this will make it worse.. dizzy means a chance of being knocked-down when you change posture.. if you're standing and push "stand" then it still counts as a posture change.. so many times have I done that and seen:


You are dizzy and fall down.


You are dizzy and fall down.

You stand up. (then, because I'd hit "stand so many times", it'll be immediately followed by):


You are dizzy and fall down.


You are dizzy and fall down.

well one thing i know is if you keep htting stand or attack really fast you will never get up unless the dizzy wears off. hit stand or any posture up key but do it wait a second then hit again. If you hit it to fast it it stacks the stand or whatever and keeps making you fall. Also there is KD food that a chef can make ya that hjelps defend agains that. Cant remember the name right now.

ummm... Pistoleer has state defences. +50 KD and +40 Dizzy defences to be exact

The reason u hear the term "stacker" is because one professions state defence is usually not enough. I had +90 def vs dizzy & +95 def vs KD (+10 def vs dizzy coming from being a zabrak!). I could fight most things and not get dizzy or KD. I fight a gorax and I get dizzy and KD real fast. This is not so clever if u r tanking for a jedi! So with my _90 and +95 defences I also drank +22 ithorian mist and ate +47 thaikillo (usually +100 but I didnt need this so went for duration instead).



If u dont have high inate defences from species and professions then eating food to leave u below 100 will leave a chance for u to be KD + dizzy. If u got +30 def vs dizzy dont drink +22 ithorian mist cause u will be wasting ur money.



I already mentioned that particular mobs like to KD dizzy but they are rare when uhave defences like I had. Thiakillo will help anyone against tuskens no matter what inate defence u have.
