The only difference is that at the beginning of each line where you have a new colour, you need to put in the hex color code. This typically looks something like:

\#FFFF00\ <------ this is yellow btw.

If you want a good example, go to -5087 3424 outside Theed, a house called the Shop. It has a sign, andit's code is thus:

\#FFFFFF\ ** \#0066FF\ THE SHOP \#FFFFFF\ **
\#33FF00\ Resources & Deeds
\#FF0033\ Droids \#990099\ Foods
\#FFCC00\ Weapons

The stuff in the \xxxxxxx\ does not appear in the sign name.

Use notepad ingame or windows notepad to make the sign to copy and paste ingame. This will not work instacking without copy and paste.

That should help you work it out. Google search hex color chart to get the color codes. Copy and paste from your notepad into the game. You paste in game, you need to go into options, and keybinds, I can't remember exactly, but you have to set up a shortcut key(s) for pasting into the game.

Hope that helps some, it's not perfect, but I'm a bit tired

Be aware, however, that there is a character limit in the signs and all the color codes and spaces*DO* count against that limit.

In order to save characters, the trailing \ is not necessary.

\#FFFFFF will make the same color white as \#FFFFFF\ will but only use up 8 characters instead of 9.

So instead of this:

\#FFFFFF\ ** \#0066FF\ THE SHOP \#FFFFFF\ **

You can conserve 6 characters by typing it this way:

\#FFFFFF** \#0066FFTHE SHOP \#FFFFFF**

It may not seem like much but if you've got a long sign or lots of colors, the savings can be quite significant.

I believe the limit is 128 characters but don't hold me to that.

Here are a couple of color charts I use often : http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/big.html and http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/reference/color_codes/

Sorry with the HTML, but it seems these forums are messing with my HTML. :/

If you don't want to have to worry about knowing color codes or anything, try playing with mixing colors on your own.

It's fairly simple the way it works:

Each pair of numbers represents a concentration value of Red Green and Blue. (the \# is just so the game knows that you're about to give it a color code).

So that means the numbers work out like this: \#RRGGBB

You're working with hexidecimal so that's why the numbers go from 0-F

00 = None of the color

FF = Maximum concentration of the color

You can use any values you want, but it's generally best to stick with the "web safe" colors:

00 33 66 99 CC FF

Now it's just a game of mixing colors to get the desired color that you want.

Solid red would be Maximum red and no green or blue: \#FF0000

Solid green: \#00FF00

Solid blue: \#0000FF

Personally, I find that the solid (primary) colors are sometimes hard to read so I'll mix just a little bit of the other twocolors in to soften it. For red I generally use \#FF3333

It still 'looks' red but it's less harsh and more readable.

But wait! Don't Yellow and Blue make green? Where's the yellow?

That's true if you're dealing with pigment (paint) where the primary colors are Red-Yellow-Blue but we're dealing with the primary colors of light and those are Red-Green-Blue.

So then how do you make yellow? You mix green and red: \#FFFF00

That yellow too vibrant for you? Maybe you should back off on the concentration a little: \#CCCC00

Want it sort of orange? Add more red than green: \#FF9900

Purple? Red and blue: \#FF00FF

Cyan? Green and blue: \#00FFFF

White? Maximize all the colors: \#FFFFFF

Black? No color: \#000000

Medium Grey? \#999999

It's really kinda fun once you understand exactly how the codes work and will save you a lot of time trying to reference color charts.

I knew about this colour thing from a search I did ages ago. My point is not about colour however its about how difficult is it locate a shop or mall due to the length of messages used for vendor names. If its in coronet u can spend far too much time guessing when neverending ravel of letters corresponds to which green blob on the overhead map.

Having this level of crambed in names really alienates a potential customer, just food for thought.

Hello there,

Ok, i have a list already of the html codes for all the colors and understand what to type in there to make signs different colors. The part i need some reiteration on is cutting and pasting in game. Figured out how to pull up notepad, never knew it was there...now how do i paste it into the "set name" screen of my house.

I may be a cool Zabrak in game, but just a natural blonde in rl

The cut and paste is easy once you know where to find it.

It is under keymap setting ingame. I goto the ALL tab and scroll down you will run into the paste and copy options. They are not assigned to any keys so you will have to bind them. I use numpad 7 and 9 since I do not use that ingame. Some ppl do.

Once you set that up all you have to do is highlight like you would in a word doc and hit 7(copy) alt tab in/out of game and paste it to set name in the options menu of your home/factory/harvestor etc. NOTE Factory and Harvs only get one line of text. Homes you can get up to 4 once you mess with it.

You can also write out your sign with windows notepad and copy it and alt-tab into game and hit 9(paste) and select ok and poof your sign changes.
