Thread: Jedi Holocron anyone?
could it be that you have to travel around collecting pieces of a holo cron to get teh FS slot? I obtained some Holocron shards froma criminal in Mos Espa. and when i exaime them it says it's "unfixable, the markings are unreadable yet some how familiar to you".
Just wondering if anyone else has obtained any holocron shards. and if so how many? Just wondering what people's responses would be to this.

(I know there are crafting boards and stuff too I just can't ever find'em heh)
I will start out by saying in no way I can I verify this, so im not going to pretend like I know.. its only a hunch. But here goes: There is random times when NPC's will show up in each city named differently but all have something in common, they are "A Criminal" each one of the npc's has a quest involved with them that is a delivery item of a dark jedi necklace, with Sith markings on it. After handing in that necklace you are rewarded with a piece of a holocron. Each quest giver, has a different piece of said holocron. What is a holocron? Well its our help menu yes? Or maybe its a broader deffinition of any GUI based menu in SWG is given holocron. Now on to my hypthosis. This quest is NOT to unlock the FS itself.. this is the starter quest to open a "HELP FILE" which starts you out on a long, and tedious "Epic" quest that results somewhere along the way in the unlocking of the FS. Think about it for a second:
1) I bet a large percentage they are hoping wouldnt take the time to go through all the quests these guys give until they get the right 1, and on top of that I bet they are thinking that the majority of players are going to go after mission terminals instead because of the easy money.
2) They ARE NOT static, they roam, at least in a couple cities ive seen them. So they are not going to be super easy to find.
3) They are in EVERY city. I havnt checked small cities, but all the starting major cities that you can choose from at character creation, ive found one.
4) they do not give out the quest the first time, they have a list of I'd say around 10 quests, with one of them bieng the holocron test.
5) they are faction dependent. The one on rori, if your bad off with thugs, you will get attacked everytime you try to hand it in. This means faction work to complete them.
I am not posting what cities, names, planets ive found them because honestly I never payed attention until recently and I have been low on cash due to upgrading gear to go back and check. this is why I post it here: I would like anyone who has gotten a holocron piece to post where they got it, and from who. Which city on the planet, and of course the planet name. Time of day might help incase they do have static routes they follow. Loc will be helpful also and a short description of the quest given, and how many you had to go through before the criminal gave you this one. I would like to investigate this further on my own server of intrepid, so please if your on intrepid, send faetyl a tell. good luck people I really feel like this could be something, if not FS start, at least interesting end result.
They are not common in the sense that everyone has one in their pocket, however, they are common enough that important information will be put on them.
Now, I have also done the quest for the criminal where I had to deliver the Dark Jedi medallion...I have done it twice actually on 2 differant servers. On the one server I kept the medallion which does nothing, and on the other I delivered it and got the broken holocron shards. Now, I have faith that there is something to them since it does say they are familiar...however, I have no idea what they are for and there is an equal chance they do nothing.
On unrelated quests I have also been giving "junk" items like photographs and have no idea what I am supposed to do with them. They were "valuable" to the quest giver, but I don't see any use or value in them.
As for unlocking the FS slot, I remember reading somewhere that there are 2 differant variables that need to exist on your character to unlock it. What they are, I couldn't tell you, but I bet one of the variables is having a high jedi faction rating...either dark or light shouldn't matter. I had a crazy idea that since the FS slot is actually a second character, it is possible that he is your "offspring"...thus meaning that you have to have a spouse...so for all you lovers out there...pump up your jedi faction and get married and tell me what happens
This is to unlock a force sensitive slot - so why bother with Jedi faction standing? That'll come with the FS character.
I;ve come across the criminal missions too - and had the same thought. Currently on the hunt for more criminals and a Holocron reader
The biggest problem with this theory is that only those who participate in these sorts of missions can become jedi. It alienates a hug chunk of the population. Artisans, entertainers, surveyors etc. Remember Darth Vader aka Anikan was an Artisan and Luke Skywalker was farmer. So, I think it would go against the grain to suggest only adventure type characters would be able to gain jedi status.
Is it really a problem to say an Artisan or entertainer goes out and does something else to become a Jedi of some type? My answer is no. Remember Luke and Anakin started out as simple people but they also went out and did other things in their life. Neither one remained in the same position after getting hints of their Jedi abilities.
Of course this has nothing to do with either one have force sensitivity but it's something to think about. In all honesty I'm really not looking forward to anyone stumbling upon the how to be a Jedi part of the game. I can't help but imagine all those that will immediately go about doing the steps to be one as well. Having Jedi is nice and all but I shouldn't be tripping over them later in the games release because then it's completely out of the time frame on the game. I seriously hope the Jedi ability is impossibly hard to get.
I think I recall Anakin building a droid of some kind, and working on repairing a pod racer. And then maintaining the various items in a junk shop. Slavery doesn't indicate skills, only a state of ownership. He was a mechanic and droid engineer - close enough to an artisan.
I don't care to speculate, eventually the details will be released.
Until then I'm happy with what i'm doing.
