Hi, I'm an old player who recently came back to the game. I logged in to find my characters all pretty much nerfed to hell and back - can't use the weapons I had, all having obtuse Combat Levels, etc. For instance, one char can't even kill a green mob, at CL 12 with 4 in Pistol and 4 in Ranged Support, plus 3 in each of the Scout trees. I'm using a CL10 weapon, and I dumped most of my scout skills and achieved all of getting back down to CL 11, still dying to greens. My Pikeman is similarly affected.
Is there something I'm missing, or some guide to respeccing to the proper combat level?
Thanks

CL is based on the number of combat skill points you have. CL 14, for instance, is any novice Elite profession, like novice Pistoleer or novice Swordsman. Further, novice profession skill points don't count as much as Elite combat skill points do. A single Elite Mastery, like Master Rifleman or Master Pikeman, gives you Combat Level 54. You will reach CL 80 as a pure combat character well before you spend all your skill points.
It's best to gain XP in a group that hunts together. Since you only need to tag a creature with your weapon once to get full XP, and since the focused firepower of a group is much more effective than that of a single character, getting a group together around your CL, or somewhat higher, is the best way to gain xp.
