Thread: A game guide on how to improve performance would be great, anyone?
Hello all, just wondering if anyone had some tips etc... on boosting game performance without having to purchase new hardware. Pretty please : )

In order, from the chage that is the easiest and makes the most difference:
1/ Turn off Vertex and Pixel shaders in the Launchpad options (You cannot do this in game. This can double your FPS yet has a small(yet noticable) affect on visual quality. Except for water which looks crappy)
2/ Update your screen card drivers
3/ Turn shadows off, ESPECIALLY structure/non-character shadows. They kill
4/ Turn off Anti-aliasing for your screen card (Under desktop-display properties. Differs for different cards)
5/ Pull all terrain sliders down to 0...
6/ *warning* Over clock your card if SAFE and easy to do
7/ Pull the second of the two foliage sliders (Cannot remember name, the botom of the two) to 0. It affects the game more than the one above it. In fact, the one aboce seems to do nothing...
8/ Turn off Bump Mapping in lauchpad options (Has no effect on my machine, visually or speed wise, but it should)
Thats about all I can think of. Try each one, one at a time, and see how it affects your machine until you reach a poitn where you are happy. The ones in GREEN you should try and do regardless. The later drivers can help a lot and a bit of over clock tweaking can make a difference. Just be careful
Water! *slap*
Forgot about that one. Though if you have vertex and pixel shaders turned off it doesn't make any difference where the water slider is
However, with the shaders still running, turning water down to 0 makes a HUGE speed difference and no visual difference that I could really see
If you are hurting for pyshical memory try black vipers site on windows services and play the game on a lean machine
Its a little in-depth, but if your low on ram it can help.
