Hi

Im acasual player, just returned from exile, i like playing games, especially online-games because you go with other ppl, and hunt to complete a task like killing a big monster, and so forth, and socialising in an online world.

In SWG, i have seen a tendence that i will say greatly differs from the normal term that is assosiated with online-games

Constantly im getting invites into big groups, cool i say, only to notice that it is a Solo group, a term i thinkis invented for the SWG, where ppl group and hunt solo, with buffs of course to get high paying missions like 37k mokk missions on Dant.

37k is not alot for a big group, but decent for a single player, So The Devs incourage solo playing in an online game

Another thing, in the past the Devs involved something called Holocrons, wauw ppl said, a way to know how to become JEDI, i dont think i have to say that both gamers and the Devs found out that this was very bad for the game, ppl grinding their way to countless professions to unlocked, priortising it over group socialties, and im speaking in general, here

Now, they have replaced that system with something i like to call the Jedi quests, oh i was so excited

Actual content, in the star wars spirit, with the intent of becoming a JEDI, but to my distress its a village with NPCs that tell youwhat todo to get closer to Jedi or in other words a grind in disquise.

dont take me wrong the new "system" or grind if you prefer, had some got things like the way you needed to glow and the old man.

But ppl, gather in solo groups and kill all they see to max out their xp, so they can trade it in for FS xp, so they can unlock 6 trees, and then what

They reach Jedi.

In the past when you have unlocked Jedi, you actually became a fulltime solo player, because of the permadeatch thing, i know its have been removed, but do Jedi acts like any other professions, i neversee them, at the starport.

are jedis, now being more social?, can anyone explain this to me?

I briefly touch this in the start of my posts, how come payouts for missions, and the economy have not been balancing so they fit, after such a long time.

well these are my concerns, that the game not incourage grouphunts and play, for combat classes that is.

to top that PvP is still very inbalanced, bugs keep coming back, with Vendors, monsters warping into the sky and away, huge lag problems in the big cities, bad drop loots, ppl complaining about the automated CSRs responses

And now they want to implement JTL, a whole new exsperience, or "world" of you will, im just a little in doubt will JTL run as smooth as, SWG does now.?

well i hope that the DEVs and you players read this, and can reassure me that these minor problems i see ppl complaining about will get better, in the future i really like this game, it has potential.

Nevertheless SWG looks nice.

This game has enough time sincs as it is. I like the fact that I do NOT have to rely on other professions until I want to. Need a health buff, find a doc. Need a mind buff, find a dancer. The great thing is this - I don't need any of them to get XP. One of the sucky things about MMO's is finding a group that can stay together for more than 5 minutes. Put up with the loot whores & Ninja's and conflicting personalities just for everyone to get frustrated and the whole group disbands.

In the beggining I was like you too.....No one groups, but trust me this game works perfectly fine the way it is now.

i think it depends on WHO you play with.

my guild groups together several times a week to hunt or accomplish a specific objective.

we also spend time alone soloing.

i think the solo-ability of this game makes it more friendly to casual players.

My Evercrack friend is hating evercrack more and more because he cant do anything without grouping up, which can take an hour at a minimum. sometimes longer.

Galaxies ALLOWS the freedom to solo, but it also requires grouping to accomplish certain goals... and sometimes its just more fun.

i think we have a good mix of everything.

also, Jedi are banding together more and more for mutual protection.

a Bounty hunter comes after 1 jedi, he gets 8 instead.

solo IS optional.

Well, i guess in comes down to your point of view.

I myself dont like soloing, in an online game because its much more satisfying when you solo in a single player game.

But i see your point in the answers, i certainly dont agrre, but i see the point

Soloing has it's good points and bad points, I am anxious for the combat rebalance, but at the same time I'm dreading it and I'll explain why....As it stands right now you can solo pretty much anything in the game save battle droids, elders (can be done still but not without some tricks being done), basically anything super-badass, but 99% can be; with the re-balance this will go away, but as we all know the tendency is overkill in one direction or another of late. It's either cake or beats you down faster than the LAPD on rodney king. I fear this "re-balance" will make it so a master in any combination of combat professions will still need to group to kill much of anything that doesn't go down in under4 hits.

As for the villiage "quests", I think it's for the better overall, even though I was only 1 profession away from unlocking completely with my one account. It's another grind, but so is anything in an RPG. And this way you can at least use the profession you like [technically] without having to drop something usefull to you fora profession you wouldn't wish on an enemy.

It's an MMORPG, as suchit shouldn't really be looked at as a "grind" persay, it's should be having fun with a group taking on something "fun" for the group and getting xp in the process. The trouble is alot of things discourage this, and not just armor/buffs, Loot rights...I can almost stop right there, as most know what I'm talking about. It's crazy to have to "share" a one item per kill loot item, something really has to give there at some point or most will always still prefer going solo. Same for mission payouts, the economy in my view is NOT fubar, it simply is what it is. Comparisons to the dollar, euro, or pound is rather silly IMO. Payouts should be per-person in the group period if in range of the mission itself period.

As for Jedi, wow, I did the branch of the FS tree that I was missing, about a day or so later, the old man shows again, I get the mellachei sith mission, finish that. Then it's off to about2 days worth of "trials", halfway thru once you make the saber your an "initiate", then another 2 days (8 more missions, 16 total) of them and I am finally greeted with the SW theme song, the title of Padawan and my robe. Very cool. Then of course you don't get any special moves or anything besides the "training" saber still until you make 20k of Jedi xp, then you can get novice in one of the actual jedi boxes (8 skill points). Not too big a deal, but another 3 or 4 days of beating down fairly low level creatures as if you wear ANY armor you do 100x's less the damage, so instead of doing 200damage to a single creature, you only do 2. After browsing thru the Jedi tree's and boxes I see that for the 4th box in any branch you need 1.6MILLION xp. All I have to say is "wow".

Now all in all I understand most of the need for this sofar, but what I don't is the visiablity "feature", MMORPG + Jedi = penialized sociability...even with the same guild members and groupedas I understand your visablity rating still goes up.

To sum up I really think they've dropped the ball on quite a few things, but at least it's still in play, and I think they're starting to get a bit caught up, so hopefully JTL won't require many fixes or tweaks and the ground game will get some serious love in the near future.

Yes, SWG is great for the casual/solo player.

There's PLENTY of ways to SOCIALIZE in an MMO without requiring grouping. I LIKE that SWG is THIS WAY.

MAYBE you can find one of the MANY other MMO's that does it the way YOU like.

I like the fact that I can log in, socialize , then do my own thing without dealing with ninja looters, foul mouths, crybabies, and people with confilcting schedules. There is plenty of co-dependency on other professions, it is a player driven economy. Weapons, armor, food, transportaion, medicine all comes from other people. There are things for groups to do, and there are things for soloers to do. I don't like to group because with my limited play time, half of it would be spent trying to find the right group.

FFIX goes the other way. you have to group to do anything. And the peole that play that game are very picky about what class should do what in a group. Whereas SWG you can have a swordsman dealing death one instant, then healing n the next and nobody gets mad(usually). In FFIX, if you are the "tank", you get yelled at for doing anything else but holding aggro. It was a real disappointing experience for me.

SWG gives you the ability to "live" in the Star Wars universe. For all its faults, bugs, and problems, it is the only game that does it, and still manages to keep most people happy. Most of the griping you read and hear about is people trying to make the game they want it, such as forced grouping, or all PVP, or no armor/dots/whatever. There is curently a decent balance.

Don't get me wrong, this game does have bugs, and I do get very frustrated sometimes at the lack of communicatio/willingness on the parts of the devs to fix simple bugs that have been around forever.

amen!

i dont have time to group (takes 30 mins to 2 hours) i dont have to WAIT for my turn to loot then have a ninja looter steal it. if they dont make it so i can loot from it 100% of the time (say like everyone in the group has a random chance to find loot) i will not do anything other then solo groups or guild groups.

Every timeI read a post like this one I feel compelled to put in my two cents. So here goes. The game, as it stands, is like any other game out there. You get out of it what you put in. I left the EQ wolrd rather than continue to complain about it because I realized that I was spending far too much time and energy complaining rather than enjoying the game. I play this game for entertainment. It is far better than mindless TV. I get to participate not just watch. I play in small groups only, usually with my sons and I solo when they cannot play. I like the idea that I can do both. I became "glowie" by simply playing the game. Not through some plan to get there. I logged in one day and Checked, bingo the glow. I have done two of the village quest (solo) and it seems to be fun. Will I try to go Jedi?? Probably NOT. It would take forever given my play style and I value my style of play more than the Jedi title. Do I have a probem with the path to Jedi?? NO. If you want to do it, good luck, and may the force be with you. Will I hunt Jedi?? YES, but only as a part of playing the game. I will not "grind" out Jedi hunts for XP or credits, that's not how I play. Forgive me, I have rambled on. In a nut shell, this is an on-line game, it offers all the oportunities one would require if you just look. Want to solo, go ahead there are things for you to do. Want to group?? Do that as well. Want to socialize?? Find, send me a tell sometime, I will reapond. Play it your way, when the bugs get in the way, or when the requirements are too great or when the quest get too frustrating, I log off and read or watch TV. I have and will probably continue to come back and play. Have fun, that is why you bought the game in the first place...right???

Actually, you're posing as a noob to vent your frustrations. I don't buy it. Your knowledge of the game is too intense to be a casual player.

Granted, most of your concerns are valid, but c'mon, take off the disguise and don't pretend to be some innocent "would-be" customer who would play if things went his way.

To be fair, someone can be a casual player and still know the game very well and be very experienced.

Say, a casual player playing a few hours a weeks since launch.

He never say he was new, only that he is a casual player.
