I am currently having trouble with part of the quest for the Y-8 Mining Ship. The mission I am having trouble with is the one where you are supposed to travel to the Corellian system and use your newly aquired tractor beam to extract resources from a disabled rival ship.

So heres the problem: I get the mission and fly out to the target. When I get there I proceed to zap the ship with my (quest given) tractor beam. However, when I do this I get a system message spam of: "Incrementing count!" If I keep this up for very long the disabled ship explodes, but the mission doesnt fail.

Can anyone help me?

I got the answer in game, it appears that the quest is bugged if you are in a group, which I was.

Hopefully everything works now

One possible cause of your problem, is that you are using the default fire button, and your blasters are destroying the ship. Use the number key which equates to the tractor beam position, and just tractor the goods off the ship. For example, if your tractor beam is in the first weapon position, then press the '1' key to use the tractor beam only, without activating your blasters.

Place the tractor beam in another weapon slot.

I had this issue putting my tractor beam in a slot in my X-wing, can't remember which one... put it in a different one ét viola! It worked

actually i did this and was not in a group and got those same pop up messeges. The Y-8 quest at this point is broken. When you get to mission 7, which is to escort a fleet of Y-8's through space, the wp location for this phantom fleet does not activate and your mission details menu on the mission itself will be blank with no info. SOE's broken content as usual and on time.
