I understand that there is no such thing as a character level in SWG, or so they say. However I notice when you take a mission, it states a level at the bottom. I want to know what determines what level missions you receive. Can anybody help me out with that. I can only assume that it has something to do with a particular skill XP that you receive, but I am not sure.

It has to do with the skill level of your character and the weapon you are holding in your hand when searching the missions. I am a novice Pistoleer so with a DX2pistol in my hand I get around level 11-15 missions from a normal terminal. With no weapon I get around level 5-7. The missions do not change if you take them and then switch back to your better weapon after leaving the terminal.

Thanks, that makes more sense than my theory. Only problem I have with it is once you reached your profession goal, you are pretty much stuck. Let's face it, you master your profession which means you get all your skill bonuses, now all you have left is your weapon and there really isn't that many to choose from at this point. I suppose that is something that will probably change with updates and expansions though.

I belive your faction missions also go up 1 level for each rank you gain in the faction.

It has to do with how well you can use the weapon. If I put a LLC on, I'm not going to get LLC level missions (which are high even though LLC is bad). Smuggler, for instance, gets 0 pistol mods even though it's a pistol class. A novice smuggler gets the same missions as a master smuggler because of this, even though we need around 2 million pistol xp. Pistoleer novice won't get the same as a Master, because Pistoleer has a lot of pistol mods. The type of gun your using also matters (A CDEF will not produce the same result as a Scatter gun). Some planets you will get missions you can't take. Lok for example will give out level 50 missions, even if you should only get level 10.

wow, I was just about to complain about mission levels...

I can pull Gronda missions on Corellia [ CL18, not sure if they are diff than Talus Grondas ] and I'm 0-1-4-1 using a DX2...

But for the record, Its really the DX2 that made the diff. Before I had one, I couldn't get crap for missions on any starter planet
