I just want to be able to use numbers in names.
Why cant I name my R5 something like R5-X2?
I can understand how many people would name theirs R2-D2 but I just want to use numbers!! ![]()

At this time, numbers are not allowed in pet names.

Not all types of droids can be named. I would check the Droid Engineer profession boards for more info on what types can/can't be named.

if the droid can be "programmed" then it can be named (to my knowledge)
try it the same way you named the other one ![]()

I know its not the same but when I name my droids I use the "nickname" prevelent in the movies/novels. Like my R5 is named Arfive or a R4 named Arfour, or a CPO unit called Threepio.

Droids that can "speak" (the ones with personality chips) CANNOT be named in any way... Protocol, LE Repair, Surgical.
They have been bugged that way since...well... since forever.
All other droids can be named, however the same conventions that limit player names also limit droid names, ie: no numbers, etc.
Also, droid names are limited to a certain number of characters.
If you think you are following all the proper naming conventions and your droid still isn't accepting the name, (and it IS NOT a speaking droid)try shortening the name and also make sure your droid has a charged battery.
