Hello all of you wannabe aces and fighter pilots. I know that you can shoot a TIE fighter with your eyes closed. But hey, a rill with no fingers could do that! Think you're Mr. Hotshot because you can take out a gunboat? Hehe, not yet! Do you really want something to impress your friends with? Then learn how to

Solo a Corellian Corvette and Its Escourts!

In this guide, I'll teach you the correct way to shoot a corvette and dodge those nasty guns that can down most players in less time than it takes the combat music to trigger. Be forewarned this is not for the weak of heart or hand...

Note: I expect anyone who even trys to fly next to a 'vette to be at least somewhere in Tier 4. Trying to tackle one at any other point is just plain suicide. Believe me I've tried.

1. Preparation and Equipment.

Undoubtebly the first thing you want to know is "can I cut it with my current ship?". Will I be able to stand a chance against on of these babies? The very first thing you want to check is (once again this is an important step) be AT THE VERY LEAST in tier 4. It is VERY difficult if you are not ace or complete with tier 4 but it can be done. The second thing to check is what type of ship are you using? I am going to recommend AGAINST using a "bomber" class ship. Despite their large mass, they lack the maneuverability that is needed to position yourself in a good spot. For example, rather than using a "TIE Bomber", use a "TIE" Advanced. The speed is invaluable at this level of playing. Finally make sure you have some missiles if not Imperial and I would recommenda flight computer with some shield enhancing programs. Rebel pilots have access to this technology so find one and buy a chip from him.

2. Finding the Corvette.

One of the more frustrating parts of the quest, unarguably, the "normal" corvette will spawn once every 2 hours in kessel for 34 minutes. This part takes more luck than any other part of the vette. The 2nd way that I know of is a quest given by the Imperial Station commander in the Kashyyk sector to gain the Royal Guard Interceptor. If anyone has details of more ways please share them. In case you did not know, the final ace mission requires you to attack the corvette in kessel.

3. Defeating the Escourt

It is critical that the escourt of the 'vette is eliminated before you try and take on the monster. Vette's are protected by Tier 5 (small amount of Tier 4 units) units and the one is kessel has two gunboats behind it (which I believe are bugged, as in they will follow the parth of the vette, not the vette, regardless of what is happening around them.). It is imperative that you fight the escourt AWAY from the corvette, as the guns on that ship will rip you to shreds. Defeat the escourts as quickly as possible, ideally under 10 minutes.

4. The Showdown

Fly where the 'vette WILL BE flying in anticipation of it. Make sure that you stay out of its range and park your ship so that the bridge is facing you. If you are Imperial call a B-strike on the vette. While the guns are distracted there is one gun that MUST be destroyed while you have the opportunity. There is one gun on the topside of the 'vette closest to the bridge that looks like a REAL turret, not some basket. That gun MUST be destroyed first before anything else gets down. Otherwise you better hope you have some insane shields on your ship. I believe it is Weapon 5 however I could be wrong. If you are rebel or neutral fire as many missiles at that weapon as you can. I can't stress enough how much Weapon 5 must be destroyed! After weapon 5 is destroyed, one of the hardest parts is completed, but you are not home free yet. There is a weapon on the underside of the 'vette of the exact same caliber that if you do not stay above will kill you. So stay on the topside of the vette or behind the engines. DO NOT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. THE VETTE CANNOT HIT YOU IF YOU REMAIN PARRELLEL TO THE TOPSIDE. The next step is to target the shield and secondary shields. Do another fly around so you are facing the bridge of the 'vette and attack both sides of the "neck" of the 'vette. Once the shields are destroyed, fly around to the back of the 'vette, turn around, and blast those engines. The corvette should now be disabled and stop flying. Destroy the reactor, which is also near the front I believe, and the bridge should become vulnerable.

5. Victory Crash

Now for the best part. Fly around so you once again can see the bridge right in front of you, target the bridge, go full speed towards that suckers face, and BLAST 'EM.

Congratulations! You just soloed one of the hardest enemies in the game by using skill! So tell yourself, "You Got Skill".

Once you know what you're doing you can do this "hardest" enemy at tier 3. I've done that for my 4 million tier 4 XP several times. Missions like the RSF tier 4 exit mission or theKashyyyk vette escort which spawns tier 5 gunboats are much tougher.

2 guides that are a little bit more ultimate then this one, because they include the spawn and exit points and know that weapon 5 is on the BELLY of the 'vette :

Zina's guide
