Why do guys play as girls in MMORPGs? I don't seem to understand how that works. I know the whole "I'd rather stare a girl's ass than a guy's" who would stare at an ass in an MMORPG anyway?and why would you rather stare at a pixelated girl's ass than a real one. Could someone enlighten me as to why guys play girls? (I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just curious to know why, and I know not everyone does.)

I'm curious too...I never "flirt" with a girl ingame because of that very reason. Soon as I found out a guy plays girls characters, I never thought of female chararacters the same

Im a guy in RL and i have a male charater on valcyn and a female on Intrepid. I DONT act like a girl on my Intrepid character unless im goofing around and roleplaying, but other than that i jut act like i would if i was playing my BH on Valcyn
I created the Femme' toon to be different, thats all...

One reason is that it's fun to play as something you're not. To play myself I don't need a game. But in MMORPG's I can be a hero, a starship pilot, a dragonslayer, an alien, and a girl/woman. I don't care about watching asses, in any game, wether it'd be Lara Croft's or Duke Nukem's, I play to play. I come from a background asa table top RP'er, and I'm usually the Game master, and unless it's a very strange setting you have to play female characters (as well as androgynous, hermaphroditious). Variety is the spice of life.
The thing is if you flirt or interact in another way, that's your character doing it, not you. If you feel uneasy, just ask the gender of the player of the character before you do something.

I have5 characters on diferentr servers right now and 2 of them are girls. The main reason is I think Zabrak women and Rodian women look cooler than their male counterparts.

People lie. Period. In IRL and online. You trust those you choose to trust. Personally, if someone lies to me about their own gender I don't care at all, but if someone lies to me about, say a businessdeal in the game, then I care. (the first doesn't detract from my game experience, the second does.) And I just don't care that much about every player behind the characters I meet, other than I try to be polite, and helpful, in the hope that they will treat me the same way and that the game will be a pleasant pastime.

It's just a role playing game. My main character is a wookiee, but I am not one in real life (of course). So why is choosing a female toon any different? You aren't really going to hook up with that nice looking twilek female dancer with the leotard in real life, so it just doesn't matter.

I have heard the "rather stare at a females ass" excuse used manytimes and I think that is mainly because the people don't want to tell their own reasons, have no female interaction in real, or are 13. I think many people do it to see if they will be treated differantly. A while back I made a female twilek entertainer played it a week wrote down how much money I made and than repeated the process with a male twilek. The female got more tips and some larger ones. Many people enjoy roleplaying females. And like others have said lots of people just want to try some new.

If it's an option to pick a female character when you start, and there are hundreds or thousands of ppl playing the game (mostly male, probably), then some are bound to pick em. It would be kind of restricting if us human males (in rl) could only pick the human male toons. But I never treat other players like anything but other players. Not too in to playing footsies with a video game character. I'd rather kill em

My main character is Male, but my alt buff bot is female. Initially it was because I would rather stare at a female dancer than a male. But then I created yet another account and made that one female too. I guess the reason is that since my Main is a male and I'm male, then that is the character that is really "me", I guess in a way, I don't consider my alts "me" I almost consider them other entities in a way. I guess a lot of that came from grinding jedi or out solo looting and my alt was the only other thing around to keep me company
