We all use lights and candles to decorate or lighten our houses and shops.
Garva knows better than me, lights and candles are way different than previous lighting object "Torch"
First of all...
They are nice, right? No.. if you think of proffessional home decoration, you will see how difficult is to decorate a house with lights. No, I'm not talking about shiny Naboo houses.Torches were giving homogenic light to enviroment, but lights does area specific light, when you turn your back to lamps / candles and walk away (in same room) you will see room seems like there is no light in it. Now try this with a torch and you will see difference.
Graphic engine of SWG supports homogenic lights as we see in Torches. I dont want to mention how can a wall can be brighter than an object standing between light and wall anyway.
As an interior decorator and a player spending 70% of my playtime with home decoration, I'm very disappointed with lights and candles.
Garva,I request, whatever lighting technology used in torches, please send Devs a tell to use same method of lightning (homogenic lightning) in all light objects
At least try it with first right room from entrance of Tatooine guild hall or in a generic small or medium.

Hmm. I don't know Gera. I use lamps and candles specifically, because they do light only an area and not the entire room. I have a Tatooine guild hall for our city's mall and "Spot" lighting, is exactly the effect I was going for.
Iuse a few torchesfor overall ambient lighting and lamps and candles for area specific lighting. I use a single or a pair of candles on the floor beside vendors for the "spooky" underlit effect. I have candles high up on the wall beside some vendors for the reflective overlit effect.
If all lights worked like torches... "mood-setting" in decor would become boring and homogenous. Bleh.

Think about real life...
Your room does not go completely dark like there is no light when you turn your back to lamp. Ofcourse area lighting is the good side of lights but... light goes homogenic in the room, some part of room, it gives more light but if there is a lamp in the room, nowhere is dark if not blocked with an object...
I dont really need to put 10 lights in a room to make it like sunlight... when you do that, all of your walls shines upon you and gives really bad shine. Go to NPC buildings, they all have area lights but somehow they dont loose when you turn your back...
