My current situation after this patch, is that I can run around and what not, however the issue is that whatever key I press it comes up in the chat message buffer bar (the one at the bottom). I have it set that either 'enter' '/' and all the other default buttons are supposed to be pressed first, but this is not the case, is there some way to fix this?
Forum Search, Knowledge Base and the Holocron came up empty...

I'm having the exact same problem, only compounded by the fact that any commands in the chat pane wont work because there's some sort of spawn-of-nokia "predictive" text thing going on whereby if I type in, for example "/g" with the intention of "/gu" it'll jump straight to "/groupchat" then if I try to type anything as an actual message, it changes to something else trying to "predict" what I'm typing.
In short, same problem as what the above poster is having, and I can't chat beyond a local conversation consisting of single words. Can't talk to guild mates, etc.
I'm using the FPS keymapping, and on Farstar

Yes, with experimentation (tried to redo my keymap - didn't work) I'm also finding when you hit certain letters it does their mapped function and can in some circumstances wipe out what you've actually typed...
IE:
typing "I'm r" -suddenly I've got my inventory, map and /reply on....

I am having the exact same problem after this patch, this game totally sucks for me now.
I do not use the default SWG keymap. I use the FPS (first person shooter) keymap. So, let me explain how my buttons are set up.
The keyboard buttons W, A, S, D, are used to navigate up, down, left, right. However, when I try to move, it puts the letters wasd into my chat. So, lets say I try to walk forward, well it puts a ton of "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" into my chat box. Also, as an example, if I attempt to type in the word "ignore" into the chat box, my character will open its inventory, open groupchat, toggle names on people, open options, try to reply, and then try to open my email. This is because
i = inventory
g = groupchat
n = toggle name
o = options
r = reply
e = email
Please fix this problem Sony, and soon, because I cannot play the game, and I will have no choice but to quit, I cannot play!!!! This issue started after today's patch.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to pm me. Thanks in advance.

Got a fix:
I too was using a modified MMORPG setup
Thanks tomy Teamspeak mates!
Change it to another Keymap style (I went back to swg default), then ctrl-o to get back into options, then return to your default keymap and yeah you'll have to update any changes you made, again. But it fixed it....annoying but fixed.

Sounds like a great fix, but what I am wondering is when you log out and back in does it lose those settings as most of the saving fixes like that are.. Good suggestion however

I got a better suggestion. Once you click on Keymap, there is a check box option for Enable Modal Chat (pressing a key to use chat). Check that box. Then everything will be back to normal. Don't know about logging, but it's a real simple fix.
