Hello all,
I do have a little question concerning skill enhancement tapes.
I am a MBH, novice CH, Pistol and Carabiner. No medical skills whatsoever.
If I would buy a clothing attachment with a +5 to medical skill, could I then use med- od stimpacks on myself?
Same question goes for +2 surveying. Could I actually survey if I get skill enhancing clothes even though I have not started the coresponding artisan profession?
Thanks, Paul.

Nope - Skill Tapes only enhance skills you already have.

As far as I know you can't.
You at least need to get the skill box required before you can actually use the skill.
For instance, My stats currently show I have a +1 to foraging, but I never did the box that grants foraging, so when I /forage it says I do not have the ability to do that.

Thank you very much for your answers.
That will save me a lot of credits as I almost bought that +5 medical CA for 100K.
Now I will save my money.

Med Use/CM Med Use were removed in Beta, those wont work even if you had Medic skills.

yeah some does work without the actual skills.. i can confirm what the above poster said.. I was pikeman for awhile always carrying a +21 terrain negotiation LVA and ran up and down hills and cliffs speedily.. I never had scout skills either
but not so for medical skills.. I wish though.. it would be great for my swordsman/rifleman to have an additional 15 skillpoints if I could give up Novice Medic if I found a +5 med use CA for my prenerf ubese shirt

Some skills do work without theboxes. I have a +18 terrain nego thats works great even though I don't even have novice scout. But, it varies depending on stat & mod
