Thread: Is there a good, legimate but non cheapo way to quickly earn a vehicle?

I'm an marksman/scout/medic/artisan and I can earn decent credits from artisan missions, but without an vehicle, traveling is an pain. Yes, I used up my free vehicle rentals.
Overall, which is best? An swoop bike or an landspeeder?

Swoops are a little faster -BUT - decay much faster... Speederbikes/landspeeders are good allround

A swoop is better than an X34 in terms of speed and overall usefulness (it gets you into tighter spaces without getting in the way). However, you're average swoop will run you about 20k or so, unless you get lucky and happen upon one at the bazaar, plus you'll be paying at least 4k per day in maintenance charges, assuming you didn't pop for a near perfect swoop that can last a week or more.

for the begining I believe that speederbike is better because of the slower decaying. Once you're "rich" you can switch to a swoop.
And once you're millionaire you can switch to an AV21 (swoop speed with landspeeder decay rate)

speederbikes are best imo. almost as fast as a swoop, better terrain negotiation, and last much longer.

I like my swoop bike, its fast. Much faster than the speeders.
If your new to the game, at some point soon you should receive a "rental" bike for doing missions. Its given as a tease to show you what your missing by not owning your own. But use it wisely cuz it only has 6-7 uses and then disapears forever.
As far as finding something easily, try hanging out in or in front of the starports of Coronet, Theed, or Mos Eisley. Alot of time there are new vendors there spaming thier shops and Ive seen Speeders for 8k to 12k advertised. Another way is to watch for player guilds offering free stuff if you join. Alot of guilds will give a free house and bike just for joining. Joining a guild is one of the best ways to advance quickly in the game anyway. You cant run solo forever unless you like low paying missions and being incapped alot.
Getting back to the bikes, yes all the vehicles do wear out and require maintenece. If you have seen the parking garages on the outskirts of the major cities and inside the smaller towns, thats were you go to repair the vehicle for a fee of course. Use vehicles wisely, dont pull them out and use them for going across town. Everytime you use them they get wear, and if you dont service them they will wear out. Dont buy a speeder unless you have at least double the amount saved up. Blowing all your money on anything isnt smart....talk about fantasy and real worlds colliding...lol

He asked for the not cheapo way.
Joining a guild that advertises with free houses and bikes is in my opinionnot the wisest way.
Good guilds don't need to lure members in with freebies.

To get money starting off I have found luck in killing the various low level NPC's outside of town and selling their loot on the bazaar. Locked Containers and Skill tapes will sell for a pretty decent profit. Maybe that will help ya...

Well,when i started there were no bikesor no freebie "trials"... try runing the lenght of LOK with no bike (did it for a laugh last week, ahh the good old days)... your on the right path//// anyway here are some tips...
1) run missions that are close to town, just look for the shortest distance.. you still have to walk but not as far...
2) get two in the same direction. (that a given lol)
3) save up to 10k and aim to get a landspeeder, they are good and cheap.
4) use the lander speeder til you get the cash for something else.
5) OR you canlook fora mount... they seem to be cheaper now... (i remember paying 40k for a mount one time lol)
as for whats best.... in my mind, other then speed... they are all good..

check out the tasks the newbie helper droid gives you, one of the rewards is a vehicle deed (i think)
edit: damn.. forgot that's the rental earlier posts mentioned, only limited uses

I've seen them lately on the bazaar for 6k. I am sure they are pretty sucky in quality, but they should be fine for a new player to get started with.

Dude has a point, i cant remember the last time i repaired my AV-21.
