Weapon decay is based on a base stat modifier for each weapon. Each weapon decays at a rate proportional to the amount of damage that it can do.

So here is the beef of things. Say a weaponsmith makes a Vibroknuckler with 120 max damage, it would decay slower than another vibroknuckler with 150 damage. If you get the knuckler sliced, it will decay faster because it does more damage. Also if you put a powerup on the weapon, it will decay faster. The weapon decay is based on how much damage the weapon will do.

To answer you question, yes, powerups make weapons decay faster. There are also certain shots that decay weapons more than others. For example in Marksman, Overcharge shot greatly harms a weapon, taking about 1 condition point per shot, whereas other shots do less than half that amount of damage to the weapon. The benefit of Overcharge shot is that it does a high amount of damage with little skill investment.
