Can anyone tell me howto check how long your sub has left?

Your account is billed on the same day ever month. You can go to your "my account" then "billing info" here on this website, it'll tell you the last time you were billed (assuming you pay with credit card), then you can just count how many days for one month from that last bill date and subtract what's past to see how many days you have left.

I never used a gamecard so don't know what it says if you pay that way, but I'm sure the info would still be in your accounts section either via this website or through the launchpad for the game.
