Last i played was October 2003. I just re-signed up, and obviously there are major changes. Some I like, some i dont, others dont effect me. However, my biggest problem is that I cant use any of my weapons because my "combat level" is too low. Can someone provide a good FAQ or brief synopsis as to how to improve my combat level? I am old school BH (both scout and marksman master) with a few BH skills already earned, so it seems my combat level (22) is fairly low considering that the guns i was using before all say i need to be 40-50.

thanks, its good to be back!

It's very simple to earn a higher combat rank, you get more combat skills (elite profession combat skills being worth more). 80 is the max and is achieved by double masters of elite professions. Combat skills are all combat professions skills which includes the medics, doctors, creature handlers and smugglers

Scout is a novice prof and can only respec to other novice skills. HOWEVER, if you have master scout and can afford to take ranger, you can respec ranger skills to BH.

You can respec standard respec points into elite profession, you just will need to pay more points than you would have to pay if you had elite respec points. Ratio is 1.5:1 or 2:1, im not really sure.

I believe you have to master two elite combat professions (Doc now falls into this category) to become a lvl 80. Many people are going MBH then mastering one of the ranged profs. I went MBH/Master Carb/Pistols 0404.

The bazaar is actually much better than it used to be. You can do a galaxy wide vendor search now. Saves a ton of time. Give it a try.

Yes, you can respec skills into bh. Elite skills are about 2 to 1 though. so it will take 2 basic respec points to equal 1 elite respec point.
