Thread: SOE to start selling in-game items for EQ2...are we next ?
I have some friends that used to play EQ2 till SOE announced they were going to allow selling of ingame items, then they quickly hit the Cancellation button. SOE even had a "Reason" box on their cancellation page which the item sales as an option. My friends all checked that option and never looked back.
They bring anything like that to SWG and they're gonna lose alot of players. Can't believe they're crazy enough to allow something like that. Just look at EQ. The economy is so horrid on all the servers there BECAUSE of ingame item and plat sales.
i prefer this than all this Ebay Sh*t. i saw peoples selling Adk for 20 box and a lot of stuffs.
at least all this thing will stay internally.
EQ2 on the other hand has been available via the regular retail stores in Australia since the original release of the game
If however they do decide to do this to SWG then you can kiss my AUD$22.00 a month goodbye.
Exactly how is this going to be different than it already is? You can buy characters and items on eBay currently.
Or is this just another reason to get all in a huff about.
The title and the original poster both make it sound like SoE will directly supply loot drops for cash which isn't what's being done...

The difference is that A LOT more people will be doing it. Currently, people still have to overcome a moral barrier (or their fear of being banned) to go eBay with in-game stuff. When it's legitimized, the number of sellers is going to explode. I hope that if they bring this system to SWG that it will be on new trade-enabled servers only so that it's optional whether you want to participate in sales or not. - I have nothing against those sales if that's how they do it but if they just switch all servers to trade-enabled then I'm not sure if I wanted to stay. Would depend on how ugly all the scamming, ninja-looting, camping etc gets.

You know what? I hope they do it. Single out the three servers with the lowest populations, enable them for the Exchange or whatever they want to call it, and then give every player on those servers the choice to move their character and all items, badges and skills to a new server of their choice.
Everybody wins: SOE gets to make real money from all the exploiting, credit-duping f*ckwads, SOE gets three low-pop servers full of said expoiting, credit-duping f*ckwads paying subscriptions, and we get to see all aforementioned f*ckwads sod off to their own little servers where they and the people who enjoy getting everything in the game for no work(yes yes, fun and all that, but buying stuff off ebay is like using an infinite money cheat in a single player game, it makes any victory hollow, any accomplishment cheap) can enjoy each others company.
