I just moved to Dathomir to work on my level 3 skills. However, I need to complete a quest to 'Kidnap a Security Officer'.
Previous quests were also quite doable by myself. However, I've been killed or forced to leave now 8 times and it is getting very tiresome. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
First of all, I'm having an extremely hard time disabling that Lambda shuttle. Every hit of my weapon (1100 - 1700 .6 vs. arm, .6 vs shlds) does about a 3 to 4 % substraction of the shields of the shuttle. The tie/ints are also extremely difficult, compared to other tie/int on tier 3 I've fought before (they'll typically take about 10 to 12 hits) now if I've hit them 20 times, the are still flying without a problem and the shields of them are maybe down to 10%or so.
So I either get killed if I try to disable the shuttle first. Or the shuttle escapes before I kill even 1 of the interceptors. Now you can say improve your piloting skills but take my word for it. These tie/ints on this mission are very very good, they more erratically. When I shoot at them, other tie/int (nto this mission) would be hit but for these may 1 in 4 shots would hit where I would otherwise be hitting 4 of 4 on other tier 3 tie/ints or anything else tier 3.
I'm getting very frustrated to complete this. I've tried to enlist other pilots to help me out but I've found little interest.
Any advice on this mission would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Just finished this one, the kidnap portion should be done by first killing the two escorts, do not attack shuttle first or it will start firing and your ship will be toast. After you kill escorts, target shuttle weapons systems and fire and quickly disable weapons systems. Next disable reactor and engine. Inspect ship and your attack droid will transfer to take over ship....the rest of the mission gets harder...there are several parts to the mission....some wingmen would be helpful.

Yup, if you think the tier 3s are hard and don't want to group with friends to complete the missions, you may as well stop your pilot training here. The power curve gets steeper and steeper from here out. Skill does have a lot to do with it (I managed to solo all but my last tier 3, and needed help with the rest up to master, and have a friend who solod all but the last of his tier 4s before needing help), but hey, the idea is to play with friends and have fun, not to solo everything in 20 seconds and win the race to master. Enjoy what you're doing and take a couple buds up with you. If you don't know anyone, meet someone! I've found that in space missions, adding one or two more people to your group can make a formerly impossible mission extremely fun and enjoyable.
Sometimes on missions like these it's best to go right for the primary target, and sometimes it's best to take out the escorts. If you are flying a Y-Wing Longprobe, I'd suggest looking for some higher damage guns and a missile launcher or two. The problem may be that you're a little underpowered right now. Even if you're in the standard Y-Wing, see if you can find a 2500ish max gun and a proton launcher and give it another go. Also, see if you have room to increase your armor and shields. Y wings are heavy, heavy ships (tied with the X-Wing for my favorite after my Firespray) and can hold a lot of equipment. Use your skills and your tools to your best advantage, and don't be afraid to ask around for help.

You are haveing a big problem LISTENING to the OP.
He said he's finding "very little interest" in getting people to fly with him. THIS is the freakin problem! It's not good enough to have skill - you HAVE to have freinds. And if you play at odd hours it could take days just to get a group together. Some posters make it sound so easy,
"just get a couple of your buds..."
This pre-suppooses that you HAVE a group in place. If we are going to beFORCED to group then the devs OWE it to us toFACILITATE the process in better fashion that hanging around a starport spamming. There needs to be an in-gamelist (not unlike the Yahoo games server) where a pilot can post WHAT mission and HOW MANY peopleshe needs. The reason I gave up the Corvette (which was fun once you got there)was the agonizingly long process of finding/gathering/buffing a group.
