Hi everyone,

I'm just returning to SWG after a long absence, and starting a new character.

I can't stand the thought of all that running back and forth, so I'm thinking of buying a vehicle. My questions are:

1) What are the things I should consider when making a purchase?

2) Where is they best place to purchase a vehicle?

3) What do I need to know about vehicles? How to use, do they cost maintenance...etc.

I know that these questions have probably been answered before, but I cannot seem to find them.

Thanks for any help,

If you are a noob with not much cash, buy an X34landspeeder for cheap, either buy one off the bazaar of from a Master Artisan. They cost money to maintain. It is worth getting a bike. And to use it, you undeed it from your inventory and take it out of your datapad.

1) You should consider the percentage durability listen with the vehicle deed. (vehicle deed=form that the vehicle is in before you call it for the very first time) This will determine the max hit points of the vehicle and how much damage is loses over time. (90%+ should be fine)

2) Depending on your server, I am sure many vendors around major cities (ie. Coronet, Bestine, Theed, MOP, etc.) will sell high quality vehicles. But dont trade someone for an already used one (ie. not in deed form).

3. To use a vehicle you go into your datapad (or if for the first time, you inventory) and go to call on the radial menu for your vehicle. In publish 10 you will be able to drag your vehicle to your toolbar to call it. you cant do that now. And then when it is called just highlight it and go to Mount/Dismount Vehicle (or something like that). It may take a few tries sometimes lol. And swoops lose about 50 points every once in a while, speederbikes lose like 25 or something, and landspeeders lose 10.

Swoops are better if you can afford it, though it costs about 10k to completely repair one from 0 condition. But you will never pay this, because if it ever gets to 0 condition it is disabled and you need a new one.

Hope this helps.

Also some creatures, Tuskens come to mind, hate your vehicle. If they Incap you they'll total your ride before killing you. I had a brand new swoop I bought, went after some Tuskens for the Jabba quest, parked it what I thought was a safe distance and after they got me (not fast enough I guess) they found my bike and totaled it. Also if you have TEF from a mission any attacks from players of the opposite faction will disable your ride first, if you're on it. A good example of this is another charact of mine was doing Imp missions in Bestine, just running in and out on his swoop, and I was riding in when a rebel shot it out from under me. Of course I attacked him and he promptly took me down (I was just starting out) but boy was I pissed. So the moral is to keep an eye on your ride if not just store it before wading into a dangerous battle.

Vehicles are faster than any mounted creatures, yet:

X34 is the slowest of the vehicles, but looses least spean on hills and mountains (with exception of AV-21, but you can foget about one of those for a while).

Swoop has medium speed and looses a bit of speed on hills/mountains. Overall this is the best value.

Speeder is fastest, but it just can't handle uneven terrain so in most cases it ends up being slower than swoop.

AV-21 is as fast as Speeder and looses next to nothing of its speed on uneven terrain , but it is EXPENSIVE (millions).

Yes, get a 90+ quality vehicle, and keep it out of trouble.

Dubolom has good information, except for one thing. Switch swoop and speederbike. The swoop is the fasted with bad terrain neog. and speederbike is the medium of all choices.

AV21's are really expensive, I sell them for 4 million.

Honestly if you don't have income coming in on a somewhat consistant basis, I'd recommend getting a creature mount. They don't cost anything to maintain. Yes they're alot slower, but you can attack from one and the pet can help you attack. As long as you stay in the general vicinity of a town a mount is the best way to go I think.

I agree with her, while you're doing 50 credit missions you might be better off asking a CH or asking someone who doesn't use their mount no more for a mount, a kaadu, dewback for free...Theres a few people that might be willing to do this while you save your pennies.

Or I know plenty of guilds recruit people and they give their members stuff, some may give you a vehicle.

How do you tell if the vehicle is 90+ quality? Does it say it only on the deed?

Thanks,

The crafter has to put the exp % into the deedname.

Sucks, i know, but there's no other way to find out, unless you buy it and use it the first time then you can target it and see its hitpoints.

but its too late then
