Hey, i was wondering if i should be able to run this expansion on my comp:

4400Ti GF4 (128 megs of ram)

P4 2.26 Ghz

512 megs of ram

and a cable modem at 100k p/s

I know no one knows at this point, but some logical reasoning would help a brother out. Thanks!

I would up your RAM to 1 GB if you can. Better safe then sorry and you will get less lag in the game anyhow.

Another big factor in Jump to Lightspeed is the prestige power. As a player travels through different zones there are certain levels and areas that are untouchable unless a player has a certain number of prestige points. However, just as in ground combat, enemies will still spawn around a player and are relative to the players level.

As far as missions are concerned, if a player remains a privateer and does not take a rebel or imperial mission, the player is pretty much excluded from PVP combat. This allows for more exploration of the world and story arc missions.

I like this "pretty much excluded " I read as If I want I can duel but will not be forced or griefed.

There was already a dev post stating that there is no such thing as "Covert" or "overt" in space. There are no TEFs in space. If you are Covert on the ground, and you launch into space, you cannot attack or be attacked by other players. If you are Overt on the ground and you launch into space, you will be able to attack or be attacked by other players who are flagged Overt on the ground.

If you choose the (Privateer) Neutral piloting skills, and you are an Imperial on the ground, and you flag yourself as Overt on the ground, you will be able to attack other Overt Rebels in space in your Privateer ship.

So the type of missions you take in space will not determine whether or not you can attack or be attacked by other players.

This of course, totally goes against what the person was saying in that article. I'll trust the developer post over this guy's article.

If further proof is needed, I'll dig back through the dev posts and find the sections where this was very thoroughly explained by one of the designers of the expansion. The lead designer, I believe.

Evarn Terallis - Master Smuggler on Kettemoor

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

This article looks like it was a simple summary of actual facts and various speculations on the JTL forum.

As such, I hope that the author of the article is making an unconfirmed or speculative report in what you have copied over here. I do hope that, as a privateer running missions for the Hutts, that when I break a dozen different laws over the course of ten seconds that Imperials, local government officials, vigilantes, bounty hunters, and the like are all (as NPCs or PCs) free to open fire on me so I can test whatever illegal modifications I hope to make on my engines and shields.
