Been playing for a while now and in the early days I loved walking out into the wilderness and stumble across something (Crashed Escape Pod was the first "POI" I had found before badges and stuff). It was great, there were no badges back then, but I felt as though I had found something special, something very few would find.
I took an extended 5 month break from the game and came back a couple months back and found that just about everything I thought would be cool to discover is given to everyone in their datapad. Doesnt that defeat the purpose? What was the point of adding all these neat little things into the game for people to discover on their own? Now you just hop on your bike and spend 10 minutes to find the "Hidden Rebel base" (That one still cracks me up, its hidden yet as an Imperial its on my Datapad).
The Badge idea is a good one for finding POIs, but I dont think they should just be shown to everyone, takes the magic away of finding these things. I realize its too late to change any of this, it just stirred up again when a friend I Conned into playing again talked to the old man in like 8 days of playing because you only need badges, most from POIs.
I don't know how anyone feels or thinks about this, just something I have noticed for awhile now.

I'm with you, but there are still a few that aren't on the POI list. Doesn't really give that same feel anymore, but I stumbled across the sarlacc, and the skywalker house on my own... and that was a great feeling.

Doesnt that defeat the purpose?
=================================
It only defeats the purpose is if the only way to find them is to use a waypoint. If you were unable to stumble accross them unless a waypoint was active then YES it would defeat the purpose.
What many people are not getting is that you can IGNORE the POI tab and still stumble across all sorts of cool stuff. The idea of the POI tab is for those who dont want to search for them but still visit sites from the movies and such.
This way both camps can enjoy the benefits of the POIs.

There are some POIs that are not in the datapad. There is a broken AT-AT in a group of trees just west of Deric on Talus. A chunker bunker north of dearic a good low lvl dungeon. Just east of that bunker is a house with 3 stormtroopers guarding it. South of the house is a cross signpost of some small skulls.
Over all there are still some cool POIs. I still stop and look at them when I come across something new.

If they weren't in the datapad people would just go to websites to look them up anyways.
