Thread: On the box it says I can be a Jedi? Where is the option for this?

There's probably a new play or two asking themselves this question. The answer is you can't choose to be a Jedi from the start. Sorry, it seems harsh but that's how it is. Don't take SWG back to the store yet though - you can still plan to be one from the start, but it will take a little work.

My advice to anyone wanting to do this:-

  • Pick Zabrak as your starting race. (Equilibrium and other Zabrak bonuses make them a good choice for any melee prof, especially Jedi.)

  • Master Doctor and get Novice Scout so you can buff yourself quickly without the wait and can gather your own Avian meat.

  • Master a Combat prof that excels in PvE, Rifleman, Swordsman, or Commando (Commando is a special case, it's a good choice for getting combat XP which converts very well into FS XP.)

I say this because you will be doing ALOT of PvE, you won't really have time for PvP until you are a Jedi if you are focused on that goal. Once there get the best armour and weapons you can and spend alot of time hunting high level content, Krayt Dragons, NightSister Elders etc. Don't sell any Crystals or pearls, or Akuan Rings, sell any SEA or AA that you get that you can't use. Maintaining a Jedi can be an expensive business with Pearls and Crystals costing what they do.

Don't build a house at the start- it won't serve any benfit to you, it'll cost you maintenance which will draw from the coffers of your Jedi Fund. You can buy one later if you need to - in the meantime use the safety deposit box to store the best items you get, don't keep rubbish - you'll need all your space later.

Do buy a swoop bike, they cost to repair, and they degrade fast - but the speed you can get around at is invaluable, you need to visit alot of POI and do alot of travelling to get the Old Man visit so fast transport is a must.

When you get the village quests - plan carfully which trees to open, you don't want to waste anymore time on this than required, you can only unlock one branch per phase so it will waste alot of time if you open the wrong one.

Gear yourself to convert XP efficiently, you need to have mastered earning xp and an extremely efficient rate to be able to expect starting Jedi in a timely fashion.

If you want to get there fast and efficiently, plan, when you aren't playing plan, then plan some more. AFK grind when you can't play, time out of the game is time lost - so don't waste it!

If you are up to the challenge read the guides carefully and thoroughly while you are grinding the standard profs, the best place to start is :-

And don't forget! SWG needs more Jedi! I'm sick of seeing all these Carbineers, Pistoleers, Riflemen, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, and even Fencers, TKs, Pikemen, and Swordsmen around!

I notice this is another person pointing out the box says you can be Jedi. Why doesn't anyone point out the box says you can be a smuggler as well but when I created a character, smuggler was not an option. Why is this different? You can be a smuggler, you can be a jedi, you can be anything in the game. Just not right away. And since it is easier to become a Architect or Rifleman than it is to become a Combat Medic, which is easier than becomming a Jedi, why is the problem?

You can become anything. Some things are harder than others.

Thanks Scout.

To the others, I wasn't complaining, it seems to me you didn't read the whole post before 1 starring it. I was merely voicing my opinions about the most efficient way for a new player to start playing a Jedi Character.

The difference with Architect or Smuggler, is if you choose show all professions you can see them and their requirements. I personally don't think Jedi should be in the game, but seeing as they are, this is my opinion on how to efficiently go about becoming one.

To this I reply I'm pretty sure the box mentions a GCW too.

I know I mean there's only how many uber jedi's out there with nice lists of bh's the pwned, not even close to the amount of jedi there are suppose to be, I mean in the movies there was Luke...and Vader...and.....alll those other uber jedi that were taking a vacation during that time period and didn't feel like helping out....

I stated in my post that I didn't think Jedi should be a playable profession, as they are maybe if we can get more people to achieve it, the devs will re-think the way things have gone and look at improving the situation.

I was so miffed at the Starport Light Shows I quit playing my main to make a Jedi Hunting character...

Jedi profession should be in the game cause without it why would people collect 31 profession badges? From a gameplay point, it makes perfect sence to have jedi as the ultimate accomplishment. It makes sence for sony cause they have people playing longer.

If jedi were not in the game then this game would not still be played.

Given the amount of time between each village phase (about 3 weeks) it would take someone starting from te beggig about 4 months.

4 months at how many hours per week? If they are playing efficiently ?
