Greets Folks,
Ive been playing SWG a while, since July 2003. At that time server stability left a lot to be desired, the game crashed quite often, and basically brought my puter to its knees. So I canceled. By the fall I had upgraded my lil puter and along with a few friends started playing SWG on a daily basis.
Unlike my companions I started the game as a crafter, I quickly Mastered Artisan and then Tailor. Then low-and-behold the Holo-craze kicked off with our "gift" of a free Holo. Suddenly there were hundreds of Tailors, and Artisans running around crafting god-awful clothing and flooding the market with oodles and oodles of dusters, paramilitary pants etc. So I left Tailor, and Artisan.
I decided to be a Gunsling Medic, then Doctor. I still at this point had the desire to craft something, even if it was medical supplies. Doctor turned out to be quite fun but a bit of a hassle, again there were about a million docs everywhere you turned. The Med-Centers were full of paramilitary garbed tumblers, squaking about "Im tumbling for you...give me money". I said bah! And executed my Medical Droid, and dumped all of my buff packs with a holo-crazed novice doc.
Still a Pistoleer at this point I decided to give Combat Medic a try, theyre pretty darn convieniant to have around in a fight. So I again crafted my meds and poisons and continued to group and generally have fun with the small transitory groups of holo-grinding combat types. I came to the conclusion that grouping to hunt for the pure joy of hunting was...a fleeting proposition at best. I decided to go it alone for a bit.
Enter the Bounty Hunter. Yes I decided to go whole hog, and started hunting and training bounty hunter. I found that this was an extremely fun profession, during my skilling up I spent most of the time utilizing my Master Scout skills to pad out my bank account. Horror stories of the Investigation branch convinced me to spend my extra points in Ranger, I quickly became a Tracker. The investigation tree proved to be an absolute breeze, and one of the most fullfilling and fun games in the game so-to-speak. So I killed hundreds of marks and hunted a few Jedi.
Then for some reason payouts became a laughable 15k...hmmm. Same time, a delay timer was attached to my weapons switching...then Master Scout requirement was removed. Master Bounty Hunter ceased to mean what it had for me. I turned in my Lightening Canon and Scatter Pistol and decided to try my hand at Smuggling.
I quickly Mastered Smuggler due to the build up of pistol experiance, my crafting background made spice fabrication an exercise in simplicity. Slicing, ahh slicing, see I happened to have about 30 containers in my house, that I had been saving. So I blew through slicing. It seemed to me that I actually ground this profession more than any other I had done. It went very quickly, some could say that I hadnt taken the time to actually learn the profession... My question would of course be...whats to learn. Random slices, non-experimental spices, do-nothing underworld line, and a spoonfull of pistol specials. Heck I had been a Master Pistoleer, there was nothin new here except a negation of my fight or flight instinct due to feign death. I came to loath the profession, really what a waste of SP. I decided I needed a break.
So I logged off.
***2 Months Later***
The Hologrind is dead! Hurrah! Long Live the FS Grind!
Hmmm, that didnt sound right. So yah I logged in again. Guess what, the distance and refreshed my original enthusiasm for the game. With the Holo grind dead I could enter a cantina and actually see...live entertainers.. Ok there were still a number of buff bots and afk dancers..but mixed in that mess were honest to goodness entertainers. Well I figured were movin in the right direction.
I noticed almost immediatly that there were nearly no visible Master Smugglers, well notice isnt the right word, but I figured it out after getting deluged with slice requests. I started actually not really enjoy smuggler, but at least not hate is as before. I roleplayed it. At this point I started to think about entering the GCW again, course there is no GCW but I though Mastering Teras Kasi could be fun anyhow... Man, never knew what I was missing... I became one fiesty Twi'lek. I figured that with the uberness of my unarmed combat skills I could simply drop all of my ranged and still fight well. So I started dismanteling Pistoleer, once that was done I couldnt see any point in hangin onto those un-modified smuggler pistol specials...so they went too. Now after dropping those I reasoned that since I was no longer a Master, my slicing wouldnt be the income earner it had been so ...there went slicing...then spices, and underworld.
JTL landed and I got my first ship. Flew around destroying baddies, I upgraded and killed more ships... died, did it again, looted components upgraded again...died. Hmmm seems to be a pattern. So I parked my fighter and started flying around in my freighter...er..I mean yacht. I decorated it and invited folks up..oohs and aaahs abounded. We had a little meeting, then everyone wanted to land so they could fly around killing small groups of fighters. I landed.
So ya now Im "Glowy", Ive unlocked 3 lines. And come pretty much full circle, Im a Master Artisan again, Novice Tailor, got my harvs out doing theyre things... but the wilderness...shes a callin...
I went fishing. Caught a mess of whoppers. Went home, noticed a new radioactive spawn so hunted around for a good spawn. I found a great spawn 92% got my fusions planted and set up a tent. And came to the conclusion that this is what I enjoy. The wilderness, the hunt, challenge (unbuffed, still gotta buff to work on FS though hehe).
Im at a cross roads of sorts. I know that things are changing, combat will change, and I think I'll just take it easy. The slower pace, meet some noobs, take em hunting. Spend time with my guildies, praise theyre accomplishments, and crafts but most of all take some time to explore the worlds.
I can only see things getting better in this game.

Wow Gooney that was insperational. Yeah know what you mean about most of what you said. I also got really burned out with all the holo craze as it was I left for close to six months (this was also due to family problems at the time also). But I am back and have two new charcters, and am loving the game again.
As Riwwi a Twi'lek Fencer/Dancer/Medic on Ahazi I would love to group with you at least once.
See you around.
