Can someone tell me why - if I have attained the weopons certification - when I purchase the weapon it shows that its not certified and if I try to equip the item - I see a message stating I don't have this skills and therefore damage will be reduced.

what weapon and where'd you buy it? I don't know if it's fixed yet, but there's an issue where people can change the name of what they are selling, thus misleading the buyer as to what the item really is. Effectively ripping that buyer off. Usually you can examine the item to be sure it's what you want (by it's picture) before buying, but some items look very similar, if not the same, as another. A big example is the DH17 pistol and the CDEF carbine (at least I think those are the two). They use the same picture. So someone could put up a crappy CDEF carbine for sale saying it's a DH17 pistol and fool someone into buying it. The devs talked about fixing this so that posting something for sale always shows what it really is somewhere.. I think in the description when you examine it, I can't remember.

What is the certification for the beam rifle? It is of course a rare weapon, looks like the acid rifle. Energy damage, high wound percentage, decent damage, light AP.

Is that a particle beam cannon? Limited to 25 uses? If so it is a commando skill. 2 level skill I believe

As a weaponsmith I have the schematic for the beam rifle, I saw it the other day. I am not sure though who can use it as I have not made one yet.

No one is certified for it. Tales are that it is a left over weapon from Beta.

All I can say is that my guilds weaponsmith went ahead and made one. He gave it to me because im a master rifleman, go figure beam rifle ..... master rifleman. When I equipped it and began attacking a picket I got the message " You are not certified to use this weapon, so its effectiveness will be greatly reduced. " I was only hitting for about 10-15 points of damage. So whoever its for its not for rifleman, your guess is as good as mine as to who if anybody can use it.

This has happened to me too - its not a case of mis-labelled weapons.. its a bug. All weapons (including CDEF weapons) are treated as uncertified by the game. The problem is not rectified by training up a level. However for some reason, the CDEF's I made for myself are fine.
