The other night, I decided I was in the mood for a fight. So I went to a recuiter and changed my status from "Combatant" to "Special Forces" Then I went to the Theed starport and waited for someone to attack. Sure enough after five minutes or so an Imperial noticed me, went over to the Imperial recuiter nearby and went "Special Forces" and we engaged in combat.
I can't seem to figure out by looking at someone if they are a "combatant" or "special forces". But someone was able to look at me and know that I was "special forces" So I'm sure the answer is obvious. Can someone tell me what to look? Thank you.

It's pretty much the same as it was under the old covert/overt system.
When you're SF the Rebel/Imperial insignia next to your name is visible to everyone, as opposed to just members of your own faction.

So if I see the opposite faction insignia, then they are "Special Forces"?

Problem is, you can't tell Special forces on your side. Devs, PLEASE FIX THIS!

QFE.. a fix/enhancement to see same faction special forces status only makes sense.

Don't Special Forces appear red on your map when you've gone SF too?

Their name and title are also red. And if you do the tab thing, the game should target them.

Yes, but that is not what thequestion was. I wanted to know and got my question answered how to tell if someone of the opposite faction is SF when you are not.
The other issue is that there is no way of being able to tell when someone of your own faction is SF.

I thought I read in one of the pre GCW-revamp notes that they were going to color code the dots on the radar depending on their declared status i.e. special forces would be pink, combatants would be purple, and likewise for the opposite faction. For whatever reason they decided not to this.

They were supposed to. It never happened.

Honestly I don't believe there is a way right now. It seems the symbol next to their name that used to indicate overt now shows up for both Special Forces and Combatant. At least I think it does. The color differences they had originally talked about never made it live.
