This thread may actually help people in the futur...
I have several questions...
1.How do you change the colour of a name, like on item names and building names?
2.How do you change the colour in guild/group chat, not including the useless Options->Chat Color?
3.How do you change the colour of your name on the forums?

Use HTML HEX code between \ \ before the text.
Changed auto based on time reestered and post count. Ill look for the url and post it here for that guide when i find it again.

Just FYI, I'm pretty sure you can't change the color on crafted item names, even with the hex coding (although that does work for house signs and spatial chat). This was taken out a while ago, but there may be a few player-crafted items with colored names floating around. And I think some items get automatic name color changes, like socketed clothing / armor.

Backpacks, satchels and cargo pockets can definately be color-coded.
