No. And there are also schools of thought that contend that mitigations only work if you're holding a weapon that would fit the mitigation (meaning you could be a Master TK but if you're holding a T21 then you're only relying on your armor).
It's a moot point anyway, mits will be gone with the combat balance, whenever the hell that comes around.

Hmmm...
I think the way to check this would be to look at your aquired skills box. If there isonly oneinstance ofMelee mitigation I thinkyou can be fairly sure that it works independant of weapontype - like melee andranged defence. 
I haven't personally tested the theory out, but I seem to recall some of my fellow Bounty hunters augment theirdefences with melee mitigation from the Fencer skilltree.
