Well, I'v efinally gotten all the systems needed for my 'space mining' vehicle....mining laser, cargo hold, and (finally) tractor beam. So far, so good...had no problem finding the asteroids, or using the mining laser to break off chunks of it. Problem is, the tractor beam, while giving a nice light show, doesn't seem to be pulling anything into the cargo hold. And even if it did, I've no clue as to how one extracts things from the cargo hold, assuming there's anything in there...
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated---

when you break off a chunk, you have to break it down one more time before you can collect the minerals

1. Use mining lasers to blow a big chunk off
2. Use mining lasers to blow the chunk into smaller chunks
3. Use tractor beam to pull in the small chunks
you get more resources per small chunk using a tractor beam than you would do with a mining laser.

The Tractor Beam is used for pulling in the smallest chunks of asteroid in to your hold. I'd recommend reading Red-Dwarf Idiot's Guide to Space Mining
