I dont believe you can attack faction NPC's until you are a declared member of a certain faction. Why do you need 4k of FP? You only need 200 i believe to join a faction. And I think a more pressing question is, why do you want to become a rebel? hehehe

You just need -1 imp points at least and +1 reb points at least to attack stormies.

As was previosuly stated, you only need 200FP to join either side in the GCW. The best way (in my opinion anyway) is to simpy run a few missions from rebel terminals.. it won't take long at all, especially if you can get your friend to help. These first missions (before you become a rebel) don't actually attack Imperials, but attack "outlaws" and people who give you rebel FP anyway.

Yup.. as a neutral you can't attack either side.. not quite sure how TEF works though.. what if a neutral medic healed an overt rebel?
Would they still get a TEF? Would they be able to attack back in the resultant fight with a stormie?

Ah the mysteries of life

i think that is only for duels and when it is a reb vs. imp battle, and you are one of the 2

sorry but u need 200 fp of the side ur on and cannot go lower htan that without resigning from that faction. also u can have +'s on both sides for example i was once a rebel with 586 reb fp and -1400 imp fp. for me to become imp i had to get to +200 imp fp. the rebel does not matter to the faction your on. also to answer the main post, the ONLY ways to gain negative fp is to run the crappy "a small theives camp" missions off of the opposite factions mission terminals or get smuggler/overt to get the fp for ya.

(ps. fp = faction points)
