Character will remain on the server at least a month after the subscription ends (I'm pretty sure this is laid out in the Terms of Service). There have been dev plans for quite a while now about having a regular "Dead character purge" which would delete all characters/items/structures owned by accounts that have been canceled for the previous six consecutive months. This would clear up PC cities cluttered with houses containing years of maintenance but owned by canceled accounts, and free up character names.

For example, if they started the purgeon Jan 1st, any account canceled July 1st or earlier that has not been re-activated get's wiped. If you canceled July 1st, re-subscribed October 1st, then canceled December 1st, your houses and items would be retained until at least May 1st (assuming you didn't re-subscribe again).

There hasn't been any dev information about implementing the purge for a while. It was originally scheduled to start in October, but I think they had some technical details to work out.

If i cancel mysubs how long will my character stay on the server for?

What happens 2 my houses and items in them?
