Thread: Need help deciding on a template

I've been playing since December, and i just cant seem to stick with anything. I'm looking for a good rangedpve template that could still be good in pvp. Thanks

any templates are good when u start mixing melee and range. you can go rifle-fencer and meditation of tka, thats what im working on. or you could replace fencer with swordsman so all your attacks are mind-targetted

I was wondering about carbineer, its one of the only professions i havent tried, is it any good for pve?

sad thing is, is that by the time u get good at a profession it will have changed. I am wanting to leave pistoleer, the must broke prof in game. But I know as soon as I do, and get up in lvls in other things, they will whip out dual weild or somthing.
Rifleman is good, tho very boring. I was a near master in it, same with swordsman. Those two currently i would recommend, but rifle eats mind ham WAY too much. 200 ham, to pull a trigger? Devs, lay off that crak pipe please.
I'm very envyous of carbineers now. They have everything, dizzy, multi-target knockdown. Even low lvl full auto can blind and stun, maybe even dizzy if I recall correctly.

This is true, but by taking2 vasarian brandies you can totally negate this. If your focus is high enough, your specials won't cost any of your mind pool. Ashira is also good, although not as much of an effectfor that both last about 4 minutes so it is possible to be constantly under their effect. Since one is a food and the other a drink, you can use both at once, making it possible to wear a complete set of composite and still negate the high pool cost of some attacks. The other option ismind buff to secondaries from a musician or dancer (i forget which does the mind pool and which does the mind secondaries).

Dancers do mind and Musicans do Focus and Willpower. And Ahisra lasts around 35-40 minutes Ibelieve. Canape last for around 10... I think.

envious of cabineers? in theory carbineers are all that, but in reality they are not. states do hardly stick on high end mobs. carbineer have everything it needs to be brilliant at crowd control, but it just doesn't work like that. I still love to be a carbineer, but I'm ok with just playing a support character in a group that cannot kill anything on his own.
maybe when the carbineer gets a little work from the devs there will be something to envy, but as things are now, there is little to envy but the idea behind the carbineer ... come to think of it, when you start your carbineer now, the profession might be fixed when you get to master

forgot to add:
a pure carbineer can do okish in PvE, but will go down in flames in PvP as you just don't get enough defenses from the carbineer trees. I am told that having the BH carbines tree enhances your damage output a lot, but you'll still need some other profession to stack defenses.
