Have you ever played KOTOR? Fable?
Kingdom Hearts??
RPG Games where you still have free will and you choose your attack and shoot at will or slice at will. That would be cool. You gain xp and stuff. But it wouldn't be like FF style where you continously do your most damaging move.
It would be more realistic where you can hit and do damage. Take damage if you are actually hit. Be able to manually aim your weapon or choose where to slice.
Example...If your a pikeman your weapon mostly does damage to action....So if you aim your weapon at a certain body part and hit F7 to select that move then you can click and be sure to hit your opponent.
The more mods you have the more faster your opponent moves or shoots. A faster fireing rate etc...
Its kind of hard to explain...anyone who knows what an rpg + action hybrid is can probably hlelp me explain. But if you know what it its....do you think SWG would be better if it was more like that?
One example would be the JTLS. You click to shoot and you have to aim requiring some skill. But the more xp you get the better your ship is...
If JTLS was like the ground rpg game it would be kinda lame....Stay in one place making macros;
/protonTorpedo1
/protonTorpedo2
/fire
/fire
You know....Little damages come up over your head....
We can still have an rpg xp skill rate but we would be able to move around and attack as it were an action Game...like KOTOR.
Anyone Agree???

No it shouldn't...if you want to play kotor...play kotor
if you want to see what happens to quality rpg's when they try and go action...go play fallout I and II for PC
then play brotherhood of steel for PS2
no love at all...go away

WoW is a action/rpg hybrid?
Well in swg its a bit different....instead of going into a random battle...you run into an opponent and you have a random battle..
You stay put and shoot and eventuall your enemy dies...

SWG is an action RPG...
At least to me it is.
EQ2, WoW are boring, tedious, run of the mill RPGs as all you do is level. The only goal on those games is getting to the next level.
SWG now has an absolutely non-linear system of skills and gameplay and total free roaming. And with the expansion, much interactive action.
But I hate RPGs like FF with the random battles and leveling, the only thing good about them is the storyline which isn't worth the hassle.
But I LOVE Action-RPGs like Zelda. Didn't like KOTOR. And Fable... Loved the look, controls and gameplay but the story was not only short but very generic... Several different stories that been told a million times poorly weaved together. I cared not at all for the characters. As where in Zelda I do. But I hated Wind Waker and Majoras Mask.

Honey, one thing is that i love SWG...which is why i still play it.
I just thought it would be interesting if it was more action hybrid.
And to the guy that says that Fable sucked....well honey, i think you sucked more bones than a st. benard...![]()

I think it's a fabulous idea for a next generation Star Wars online game... A new game taking the potential for detailed rpg thatSWG has, thespace flight combat sim of JTL/X-wing, and the ground combat of Battlefronts... Hey,or maybe even borrow fromKOTOR and allow real time control of agroup of customizable characters. Now that would be sweet!

Its fine, but I am going to counter your 1-star because an idea really shouldn't be 1-starred.
Just be glad swg isn't turn based
Currently in swg, you do have a fair amount of control over your character, the only direct control you don't have is how they pull the trigger. You do have control of when they shoot, how they shoot, etc...

KOTOR has a terrible, slow moving camera. And the character models look deformed with some huge rear who move too dang slow.
I hated it.

I think taking some things from battlefront and kotor would definitely add a lot to the game, yet keeping galaxies for the most part the original game
