Thread: Prone position for shooting frequently fails

I couldn't say as I'm melee, but I have noticed that a prone NPc tends to just lie there and die with me standing right in front of it. Also, kneeling does almost as well and you can still heal yourself. You might try a change of tactics unless you are concealing...

I've noticed that many times when i go prone to shoot at something with any type of ranged weapon it frequently doesn't work. No matter how flat the terrain i never shoot, just lie there in combat mode while my enemy walks around oblivious and in range.
I've encountered this with pistol, carbine and rifle and am not sure if there's something I'm doing wrong. It's frustrating to not be able to maximize on my accuracy by using the prone position.

Also make sure you check your combat log, sometimes the animation isn't there but there is actual combat going on.

This is definitely not a case of being too close. I'm usually at the ideal range for my weapon and 60m away is not too close for a rifle.
I've waited before just in case it was simply a lack of animation to indicate that I was shooting but once again, nothing ever happens and the enemy takes no damage.
Hmmm maybe I ought to bug this if it never happens to anyone else.

doesnt matter what your ideal range is....there is absolutely NO attacking while your prone and an enemy is right up on you......prone only works up to about 25 meters. any closer you have to be kneeling or standing to be able to do any damage

Alright I can see this is only me having this problem. And for all those people that think that 60m is too close for the game to allow prone shooting I'm not sure what you've been smoking.

No, I've had it too, but it's intermittant for me for some reason...
One of the reasons I gave up ranged and went melee, this stuff isn't going to get addressed for a couple months at least.
But I can confirm that you are indeed attacking (combat music, ideal range, etc.) and nothing is occuring, I watch my combat spam screen like a hawk at all times no matter what profession I do, and indeed nothing is happening.

It's been broke since Publish 11, specials work but normal attacks don't. I /bug it every day. I believe the rifle correspondant has reported it to the Devs., just got to wait for them to stop messing around with our inventories before they begin work on it.

I thought I was the only one with this prob - glad to know I'm not
I'm using a laser carbine, do we know if its only certain weapons or only 1 type of ranged weapon?
