ok so i went to find the pilot, picked up the stuff there then went to see the doc that then sent me to the other guy that was dead and i got a datapad from his corpse.

now what?

is there a guide to this?

Just go back to your first contact (aka the Quest giver) and talk to him...

If you're ever confused about your next step, check the journel. At that step (I hit that point myself last night) it mentions maybe getting "more information from your contact". That's the original person you started the quest with.
