Hi,
How do I acquire a factional base? Do I have to be a smuggler to purchase one (or buy one off a smuggler)?
Then, how do I place it? I know each base takes 6 lots, but do I have to be the same faction as that of the base? Like can a rebel place an imperial faction farm, or do I have to buy the faction to go imp, then lay the base down?
Thanks

You buy the base from your faction recruiter using faction points.
You don't have to be a smuggler to buy it... but it makes more sense to have a Master Smuggler purchase it for you as they get a discount when purchasing faction items.
You can only purchase a base of your own faction.
You place it just like you would a house deed.

I recently spoke with a CSR about this and was informed faction installations have no faction attached to them. For instance, if you are an imperial and you buy a small base from a rebel smuggler, dropping it as an overt imperial will make it an imperial base, dropping it as an overt rebel will make it a rebel base, etc.

Ah ok. Thank you very much.
I guess I need to go imp, drop it, then switch back.

Aahh... and technically, if thats so.. its cheaper for a Master Rebel Smuggler to get one, because, iirc, Rebel faction is cheaper (100/fp) than Imperial (125/fp).
Learn something new every day.

yea i agree with what was said before, the bases i hqave bought never said any factional alignment, so i do belive it matters just who places em
