Seen a few people doing videos of their characters in action... would like to do one myself - anyone know how? Presumably it's using some kind of external program...

They might use fraps. Like you, I'm also trying to find a quality program.

OMG don't use fraps. It drops your framerate to 1 and makes for lousy videos. there's another one out there that works great even with high graphics options on. I forget the exact name, but I think its Gamecam Lite.

You do not have to launch the game through Game Cam for game cam to work... Game Cam only has to have the executable that it is suppose to work for in its profile, and of course Game Cam has to be running..
I am going to use Star Wars Galaxies as the example but its almost identical for every SOE game.
1. Open My Computer
2. Go to the game's directory
3. Look for "swgclient_r.exe" (or whatever your game is)
4. Drag the executable into the "Profile Manager"
5. Close Profile Manager
6. Check to be sure that Game Cam is running in your tray
7. Launch the game as NORMAL (not through Game Cam)
8. Should work perfectly!

And since SWG and gamecam use so many of the same keys, I removed all key mappings from gamecam except "record" and "stop recording".

Is there a way to make either of these programs work with hardware-based video compression? I have a Pinnaclesys video capture card which would speed things up immensely and reduce the skipped frames.
